The old board had significantly more sections to it before being pared down (ie help area, women's basketball, off topic, European etc). Partly because it was unmanageable and partly because many of them didn't get used.
Is it time to reintroduce any of those? I'm thinking mainly an off topic area as I feel (and I could well be wrong) that it's the only one with a chance of being popular enough to justify.
Anyone have any thoughts?

History shows that only the bbl board will get well used. The NBL thread gets far more traffic than the sub board did before the cull

I’d be in favour of trialling a new off-topic area, to see how popular it is. I only really posted towards the end of the old board (though I had lurked for a while longer), and felt it was lost in the trees rather than outright not wanted. It would be nice to have an area available where other common interests could be shared, though I appreciate not everyone would use it.

I think the opposite. Ditch the NBA one and just have a basketball section. An NBA thread, similar to the NBL one, might actually generate a few more comments......much like the NBL one.

I'd just keep it as it is maybe just create an on going thread like the NBL one. Junior basketball could be a good topic.

Place on here to chat about anything interesting going on in sport or the world
That's part of the normal chat rather than hidden away somewhere?

Interesting point about the NBL thread. There's been around 80000 views on NBL topics in the 2 years since we moved here.
When it had its own board previously it took around 3 years to gain 85000 views.

Think it would be better to add more sections, some topics get ignored amongst the more important stuff and feel we should have a section to discuss stuff like movie, music or TV recommendations, or maybe to give users advice on personal issues that they might want to open up about.

If we had a thread for "other sport" and a thread for "general chat" then they don't harm anyone who doesn't want to join in i would also like to see an "nba" thread same as the bbl thread as already discussed above "Women's basketball" may also be worthy of its own thread maybe they should all be sticky threads at the top as well i like to discuss boxing when something big is happening and right now maybe the Olympics etc and I'm sure others do as well |

The Pie and Bovril (Scottish football) website has a "general nonsense" section and you should see the variety of topics put on there, some come and go quickly, others have been continuing for years.
Always good to see what others think of a topic in the news or other non b/ball related topics.

You do realise the site name was a homage to the phrase "Whats Bev (Turner) got to do with it?" - a hapless channel 4 presenter who didn't know a thing about the game? Your predictions are far more worthy of a more complimentary name. Something like "WatchIRF" or similar....
