It's frustrating how some games get 2 versions of highlights due to both teams producing them (Flyers/Wolves this week for example) and other games don't get any!
This thread has highlighted (excuse the pun) the teams who produce the best highlights of every game - Riders, Eagles, Rocks, Giants, Flyers and Wolves. Why can't the other teams do likewise?

I'm not sure how it works in the BBL, but at Thunder I do them as a volunteer, it's something that I've got the equipment/ability to do and I enjoy doing. I would hazard a guess that if there's someone at a club who has the time/equipment/ability to do it then they get done, other clubs may not be so fortunate to have someone who can do that for them. I would guess that if a club wanted to employ someone to do it as a job, who wasn't doing it for the love of basketball, then it may be expensive. I'm not sure how much it would cost if you actually employed someone, maybe £150-200 per match at a guess but it'd be interesting to hear if you think it would cost significantly different to that.

Sorry, no disrespect intended, I was only speaking of BBL teams. But for what it’s worth, I think your Worthing Thunder highlights are better than half of what the actual BBL teams put out there. I think you’re right about volunteers too. I saw Lions advertising for someone to do their highlights, calling it an unpaid internship. Not sure if they found a suitable candidate but I’m disappointed that all they manage to put out there is 2 minute highlights (all of them scoring) of occasional games sometimes as late as a week afterwards!

Don't worry, I was only joking! I would say that for what I do, it probably takes about 4 hours per match, excluding the actual time to travel to and from the venue and the match itself. That's to produce the highlights, and the shorter version which goes off to various TV channels and the information etc that goes with it. Then distribute all of that to all the places that it goes. The way I record the highlights is by using multiple cameras at fixed angles which I can then mix together at will later on. We even produced a couple of full matches for local TV broadcast this way. The advantages are that I can sit in the crowd and enjoy the matches, so we can capture lots of camera angles but with no cameramen. And in theory never miss a shot as all angles are covered, unless a camera fails etc which does happen on the close up cameras. The downside to doing it this way is that there's no camera movement, which can lead to less interesting footage. I try to cover all home matches and have the highlights ready for the Monday morning, but I have to miss the odd match every so often. I always include the best bits for our opponents too, who wants to watch highlights which only show the home team scoring? We also include a PIP of the scoreboard which IMO is essential to any highlights package. It's not difficult to do.

Out of interest, you may have seen this before but I'll post it here in case not. Try playing the video using the YouTube app on your phone, not in the browser. I think the audio is screwed up now but it did work properly when it was posted a couple of years ago.
Saying that, I can't get it to work on my phone now anyway!
Turns out my new phone doesn't have a gyroscope so it should work on most phones, just not mine!

benji – You’re a credit to Worthing Thunder, one that I’m sure any BBL club would be jealous of. Of course producing highlights of BBL games would be much easier, as they’re already recorded for LBTV so it would just require someone to be given the footage after the game and then them editing it down to a 5-10 minute package using some video editing software. But still, finding someone with the skill, time and commitment to do that (at little or no cost) is easier said than done. As for your VR footage, it worked on my iPhone, and is quite impressive. And it’s just another example of how you’re producing something miles ahead of what about half of the BBL teams currently do. Keep up the good work.
