Wayne Martin was on a short term contract that expired, I understand, so it's not a release as such.

Biting my tongue over the 'treatment' of the guys released, but the new fella seems like he's built to operate inside....
Lets hope Rob can get the best out of him. I don't think he got anywhere close to Martin's potential out of him.

Sad to see Martin go because he was effective for us but even sadder about Trayvonn Wright's leaving the club with a whimper not a bang. It always looked a long shot that he'd recover and I really hope he does and he's fine for the future. The new guy obviously has to prove he's an upgrade on Martin and if he is he'll add some much needed threat to our front court which has been lacking so far. Perhaps Tiny Tim is the man!?

I've heard a rumour another team in UK may be signing Trayvonn. Will leave that to be made official by them if it happens though
So I wish him all the best with that
Martin as an individual was a quality player IMO but clearly as a team we aren't at the standard we need to me and is this signing the one to make the difference?

Personally, I think we need much more from Anderson. Apart from the occasional 3 point shot he rarely troubles the scorer. Disappointing season from him so far. After his travels and experience elsewhere he seemed more aggressive at the hoop and an improved player but that has evaporated in recent weeks. Seems to offer no threat at all inside.

At least Riders have got the guts to make changes at this stage of the season. Other clubs keep poor Americans. Look at some of the imports Stats, JOKE.

One might look at it as the other clubs choosing to honour their contracts and look after their players. It's all too easy to cut players when the coaches poor recruitment is to blame.

I hope your boss doesn't want to sack you as often as you want to sack a player mate

I think they should concentrate on staying up before worrying about the playoffs. We're four wins clear of them, and staying up is still our first priority. Mind you, Wright is being paid more than our entire wage bill. Gonk's comment about contracts is valid. It's like he'd read my crap daveballblog.wordpress.com

I have no doubt that some of the people arguing that some people would be arguing the exact opposite of what they are if Riders' had chosen not to make changes. A section of the fanbase at Riders' seem to be unable to comprehend that the club could ever do anything that is in the slightest questionable.

Of course choosing to honour the contracts would be the right choice in the eyes of many of the people arguing otherwise if that is what Riders' had done such is the believe that the club can do no wrong according to some in the fanbase. Alex, I value your thoughts and contributions but can you add some ****ing punctuation to your comments please?

So is there a new requirement for all BBL teams to have a Williams ?
We've got 2 available if your team needs one, and we'd still qualify once they're gone.

Must admit that Trayvonn signing for Hemel is a surprise to me.
1. He was hobbling around a few weeks ago. I've lost track. Wasn't he going to have an operation or something?
2. How does this work, work permit wise? Will Hemel have had to apply or does whatever arrangement he had with Riders continue for a period of time?
3. The bit that doesn't surprise me is him being released by Riders. He wasn't getting game time and it doesn't look as though he was going to. But that, at least I thought, was down to item 1 above. He's been a great player for us in the past few seasons and good luck to him.

What a dismal highlights tape for the new signing .... here's a better one.
I agree that he has to be better than Wayne Martin, who I quite liked. I think we'll miss some of his blocks.
Anyway looking forward to seeing Tim Williams play, I hope it will be on Friday versus the Sharks.

Slightly off topic bit of College Basketball trivia: This season, New Mexico head coach Paul Weir has selected his starting five for each game based on the number of deflections and steals by his players in the preceeding practices (they are a high intensity pressing team). This has led to multiple starting line ups and large deficits to begin games...
