Defoe wont be cheap If MBA is coming in maybe it's instead of Defoe and some of Defoe's wages are going towards paying for MBA I'd 100% support that move but I just don't see it. Defoe wont come cheap as you say but it wont be comparible to MBA

Defoe wont come cheap as you say but it wont be comparible to MBA Yes I know I've only put it forward seeing as Defoe isn't announced yet and everyone seems to be taking it for granted he will be In the unlikely event MBA is signing for eagles - it might add up that defoe isn't coming back He's had injuries derail his season 3 years in a row now (Defoe that is) It's just a thought

If it happens just accept once and for all the fact that Eagles wait for me to tell them what to do on here Lol

I certainly would be offering Defoe a fraction of what he used to earn when he could play a full season and more minutes
If you want to challenge for league titles again you need to spread your budget more wisely

Is there anything of substance actually linking MBA to Eagles or is this just completely random speculation based on nothing other than the fact that he's doesn't have a club announced yet? Would be a game changer if it happened but seems unlikely. I imagine it's quite difficult for any club outside of London to pull in the really top Brits at the moment. Partly because the league's two biggest spenders are probably Royals and Lions right now. And partly because it seems most of these guys would much rather play in London than any other British city. I’d frankly rather have this guy than MBA. I don't think many would share that sentiment. Including probably those responsible for this signing. Quality bigs are much harder to find than good 5'10" guards. Every chance Glasgow does pretty well in the BBL. Plenty of pro experience in relevant leagues. In a vacuum probably a nice addition, particularly given the British passport. Somewhat debatable though I think whether he's the ideal fit for Eagles given that they already have a 5'10" PG on their roster who will very obviously be playing major minutes. Presumably the plan is to play this guy and Fletcher in tandem quite a bit. Will probably work fine offensively. Maybe not quite so well defensively.

There’s nothing of substance in the MBA rumors and with two bigs already signed (and Darius surely a cert) it’s difficult to make a case for it anyway. Given the choice I’d much rather have Hamilton or Hesson, but it won’t happen for budgetary reasons. Now just laugh at me when we announce that Obie is moving north to play with his Geordie Shore mates 🤔

Delighted Darius is back too and the new guy sounds good. I hope MansfieldMike's thoughts about Glasgow's passport aren't right and that the Eagles didn't announce him til he had the passport. I'm puzzled by the Eagles having 7 signed guards now. Is that a record?

Morsell and Schlitzer can both cover the 2 and 3 spots - both are 6'6 and I've certainly seen somewhere that at college Morsell defended from 2 to 4 as required (although, with Mitchell, Hussein and Defoe I would doubt he has to much at the 4).

Thanks, that's helpful info So the squad sounds like: 1. Fletcher alt Glasgow, (Yabantu) 2. Glasgow alt Morsell, Schitzler, Lasker, (Matthew, Yabantu) 3. Morsell alt Schlitzer, Fab? 4,5. Aded Hussein, Mitchell alt Defoe, KaiWilliams?, Morsell ()= low if any minute players, ?=unconfirmed, alt=bench/alternative

Looks pretty accurate to me. Looking forward to having more guys on the bench than recent seasons (Even after discounting low minute players)

Not sure it has actially been confirmed Fab is playing? The press release that confirmed he was staying on as head coach was a tad cryptic about that sode of things if memory serves. Either way if we finally go to a 12 man roster I will be delighted.

Kai to be announced tomorrow before the friendly and that's the Eagles finished? I've noticed Jamal is back in Newcastle too. He posted an Instagram check-in at a waffle house (ha) in Newcastle this afternoon..

Even though you may not like Jamal as a player - Fab committing to focus 100 per cent on coaching may not be a bad thing?

Fab every day for me - he brings an energy to defence when needed to step it up. Issue is balance for Fab - coaching vs playing - and with a deeper bench I am hoping that he is not "needed" on court quite as much.

You just want us to sign Jamal, given a choice between the two of them it’s a no brainer, Fab all day. Though I agree would like to see Fab concentrating more on coaching than playing, if it means he has to play to stop us signing Jamal then please let Fab play, I beg you. On the other hand, say Fab isn’t going to play why do we have to sign Jamal. I would rather sign a young local player from the Academy to fill the last spot. Someone who’s hungry and wants to prove themselves 🙏🏼
