He's in far better shape than we saw at Chester according to what I've been told.
This could be a very interesting turn of events.

In theory Fletch should have an absolute field day with CJ on the team. Lot of high screens and ball rotations, CJ can shoot a little too....

Yeah, that's an interesting signing. I remember being at an Eagles game when he first came to the BBL and laughing when I saw him warming up. Pretty sure he had a decent game against us which shut me up pretty quickly.
He looks to be a step up from Mitchell to me. Where Mitchell had the physical gifts to post up and dominate the paint, he often didn't have the soft touch to finish those moves around the basket which got to be frustrating at times. From what I've seen of Gettys he seems to have that ability to finish from a few different positions on the court.
Hope it works out, just wish there wasnt this huge gap to the next home game now but at least gives him time to bed in.

I said I'd give him a month before he was cut before he got to Phoenix. I was very wrong.
Definitely one of the better performing 7 footers we've had in the league in a long while.

Interesting signing and coming pretty quickly after the release of Mitchell. Another annoying player who is now an Eagle, I hasten to add he was only annoying because he dominated and could shoot pretty well from outside. If he brings those same skills coupled with Mitchell's aggression then this should be an excellent fit for the team.

I hope so, his understanding with Vic Moses last season was a joy to watch, when Vic was fit. Mitchell was a great athlete and still dissapointed to see him go but he seemed to frustrate Fletch a lot.

Got to put my hand up here and not just because of the club he has joined. I've only seen him live (perhaps half a dozen times) and am yet to be impressed. Maybe he'll turn out to be Eagles missing piece, but I am not betting on it.

Defensively as useful as a cardboard cut out (in fact that could be open for debate). A fair weather player who when the crap hits the fan goes missing.

So one of the reason Mitchell was cut was because he didn't necessarily fit in with the team ethos. Then his replacement is Gettys. Hmmmmmmm! Interesting!!! ! Good luck with that then!!!!
Funny that when he was available to teams in the BBL twice before in the past, Eagles or rather Fab didn't fancy him then.

He has a very good touch and will win a load of defensive rebounds. If in better shape he may give more defensively. Hopefully reality has dawned and his attitude will improve. He massively disrespected us on more than one occasion. He significantly contributed to the cup win though.

He is good for 25-30minutes. Will he be able to work at eagles pace? If he jeeps his fitness and plays team basketball could be a great move.

Yep, had heard something about this from mate in US towards end of last week. Was a bit surprised as I didn't think he was mobile enough for Eagles. Presumably as Bigz suggested above, he's in better shape now. All being well though he should rotate with Darius and Sade so excessive court time may not be an issue. Don't know if Fab would have signed him - so 1st real signing for Ian? Genuinely hope it pans out well for all concerned

If he doesn't get back quickly he'll be at the right end of court for a fast outlet/assist!

Technically, he should open a lot of space up on the outside. Not a guy you can cover one v one in the block I don't think, unless you're a Lavrinovic or Leicester's big man. Maybe Ryan Richards.
Newcastle have a lot of shooting with Fletch, Glasgow, Morsell, Schlitzer (who should be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this move) and the likes of Sade (who's role for me has now become huge) and Williams are a threat behind the arc too.
Cant see him playing too much with Defoe - not the most mobile front court that but it could work.
He's not got a bad stroke either Gettys, hes not all power.
Key as people say is if he buys in to the ethos. No reason he shouldn't with the experience he has round him.
