Annoyed i had to go on the mail website. I'm amazed they hadn't blamed immigrants for the deal taking so long to broker if I'm honest....

Define " permanent ". Is that permanent until the "famous Ovie" deals run out? Is that permanent until Lions run out of money? Is that permanent until the Copper box deal ends? Or is it just permanent?

It's not confirmed as yet whether they'll manage his minutes or not if he makes it to his 90s.

At least he doesn't start until after the potential QFinal

Or whether they'll be able to manage his minutes between photo shoots or even his appearance in I'm a Celebrity Get me out of Here in 2020. On the other hand it's possible he could be heard shouting that after a couple of months at the Lions.

Really happy to see this finally confirmed. It’s a shame he’s not joining until 8th Dec, we certainly could use him to get us through the remainder of the Cup, but hopefully this’ll mean we’ll have a more successful season than we’ve been having to date. To be honest I’m not expecting to see him play in every single game due to his other commitments, especially the away games, but I’ll still happily take him.
And on a more general note, this should generate some publicity for the London Lions and the BBL. This news is being reported by various mainstream news organisations today, which is great publicity. When was the last time a BBL signing got coverage by the Daily Mail?!

Gone before the Christmas tree drops its needles? Nah, I honestly think he just wants to keep a presence in professional basketball whilst exploring all the other opportunities open to him right now (mostly in London). Like I said, I’m not expecting to see him in every game, or necessarily beyond this season, but I think he’ll be with Lions for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.

That's probably an accurate reflection.
I imagine he'll probably suit up and play most games, but training will likely be a bit more sporadic.
He is, by the way, a quality player. Lions will be far better for having him on the floor.

Gone before the Christmas tree drops its needles? Doesn't get the drop? Why would he quit so soon? He's not coming into it with his eyes shut, he's well aware of the step down he's taking. In a few months, will he find its more trouble than it's worth, or accept a conflicting offer? Yes possibly, I'm sure that's at his discretion. But I don't see why he'd have come into this without basing it on reasons for his career longer term.

Bummer! Excited to see him on court but it'll make Lions much tougher to beat.

Delighted and looking forward to seeing him play. It can only be good for the league on and off the court

I'm sure this will only be a temporary signing until he signs with a team in John Amaechi's Premier Basketball League...

So the big debut for ITV’s Love Island winner is just 2 days away. The former GB star’s arrival has been long awaited and this could really breathe life into this popular sport. Soko, 28 turned down a host of top teams from around Europe and from top English sides Surrey Scorchers and Westminster Warriors to join the London Lions BC.
The buzz surrounding the debut is expected to add a much needed input of cash into the ailing London side, the only professional basketball club in the capital. The side who won the British title last year are perilously close to administration and are praying this gamble pays off.
It is understood that Soko is to receive all gate receipts of any crowd over 3000 and also half of all merchandise profits. The club’s average attendance has been around around the 1100 average for the last two seasons and Soko’s presence is expected to draw over 5000 to the Copper Box stadium this Sunday according to owner Vincent Macaulay. Soko will clearly be smiling come final whistle on Sunday whatever the result but it remains to be seen how many of the fans attending to see Soko will return each week.
It is understood that the Club are realistic about the availability of the reality star throughout the season but seemingly are relying on him to save the club. Macaulay was so desperate to sign the player that he begged him to play, pleasing that he was the only person who could save the club and to name his price. The club has the current leagues MVP (most valuable player) in ex GB player Justin Robinson but has struggled this season after losing most of last years all conquering title squad over pay disputes and have relied on a mismatch of bench warming veteran journey men.
Investigations have shown a number of CCJ’s outstanding and a possible future Police investigation ongoing into club finances. The Club has no current sponsors despite Soko’s announcement and currently owe over £36,000 in court hire fees and risk being locked out of their home venue, Former players are owed £000’s in unpaid wages and contracts and it is understood that the FIBA BAT tribunal have been asked to intervene; and the league (British Basketball League) have had to step on to pay the referees match fees after complaints from the officials that they had many matches outstanding with a refusal to pay them from the club according to one leading official. It is believed that the Club hope to have an average future attendance of over 3500 which will give salvation to the club.
The game tips off at 4pm this Sunday and is available to watch on YouTube. A handful of tickets will be on sale at the door.

Hmmmmm, lots of things there said about Lions. A lot of them have been whispered about in the past, interesting that drivethebody chooses their second post to put it all down in a post. A disgruntled ex player, the Copper Box management wanting their money, a referee wanting their expenses or somebody with a big wooden stirring spoon? Will we ever know? Edit.......just looked back on their first post.....pretty much the same comments.......does look like somebody who 'knows' things.

Why does the second paragraph read like it’s straight out of a newspaper article? Plus ‘London’s only professional team’

So "drivethebody" is at it again. Loads of comments, some which possibly have some truth in but putting it together with plenty of waffle & non truths!!
You don't need to be a genius to realise that there's been issues with Lions finances over the years but an anonymous post from someone who clearly has a massive grudge against Vince & wants to attack him needs to be looked at with a huge amount of scepticism & disbelief! Clearly this person has heard some 'facts' & added their own unique spin & hatred to the mix!!
Lions won't get 5,000 to a game unless they were playing an NBA team! I cannot believe anyone at Lions would have thought that many would buy tickets, even once! 3000 is probably achievable.

I’m confused. If Soko were getting all gate receipts, half of merchandise, and there’s no sponsorship deal in the offing... just how would this arrangement give Lions an injection of cash? Are they counting on the gate levelling off at 2999?
