Bump as much as you like doesn't seem too many posters around to comment, traffic away from the Copper Box must be bad.

Another number in the win column, Lions almost a 3rd of the way through the league season & only 1 loss!! Another 15 wins and the league title is definitely ours. It wasn't always pretty, particularly in the 1st half when Lions lacked focus, intensity & any form of passion. However something happened in the locker room at half time & we were much better in the 2nd half. Lions still have plenty to learn & improve upon, we're stuttering through games & often look like we haven't played or practiced together for very long but the quality of 2-3 players sees us through. Easily Ovie's best game, finally looked like he was really putting the effort & commitment in & started to play as part of the team. His team mates need to learn it's not all about Ovie & take their own share of responsibilities & that started to happen 2nd half.
Royals were short handed, with only 7 players suited up but they played hard for each other & the lack of players means they( with exception of the new guy) know each others game really well & play to each others strengths. With Royals troubles, the players who are still suiting up look like they've become a real unit, a set of players who have come together in adversity & with the coaching of Lloyd, will never give up & are ready to fight for each other.
I don't think I've seen a bigger crowd at the Box for a BBL game which was good to see & the majority of those sales would have been through Ticketmaster, so it could well have been Lions biggest payday for a BBL game. Most were newcomers but hey you've got to start somewhere, hopefully it'll add some more 'occassional fans' to the growing numbers & perhaps some who are mad enough to go on a regular basis.

Surely this was a hot topic in London & nobody posting, ah well, not as box office as Vince would believe Maybe the low number of posts immediately after the game is because a lot of us were actually at the game, it was certainly a big crowd. So not sure why you think Vince would be disappointed with the box office.

Where was Matt Scott tonight? Sat on the bench with the team. Guessing he was injured.

I don't think I've seen a bigger crowd at the Box for a BBL game which was good to see & the majority of those sales would have been through Ticketmaster, so it could well have been Lions biggest payday for a BBL game. I had noticed that the usual discounted tickets options had stopped recently, apart from the occasional game (usually mid-week) on Groupon. I’m not sure £26/£22 a ticket is sustainable in the long run (weren’t we all criticising Royals for having similar priced tickets last season?), but I guess Lions might as well go for it for as long as there’s a couple of thousand people willing to pay it. I guess they’ll revert back to the Groupon deals once they need to attendance starts to decline.

Back to the game, anyone else surprised at how well Royals are doing given their current situation? They’ve lost all their big players and have run a 7 man rotation for two games now, the first (against Scorchers) they won, and the second (against Lions) they put up a very good fight – probably having the edge in the first half. I’d suspect even with this very average 7 man rotation they could probably beat half the teams in the league!

Possibly but how many of those 2000 attend regular games or just feasting on groupon deals? It’s not sustainable

They seem to have stopped doing their discounted tickets on Groupon, but they have every remaining home league game (except Scorchers this Friday for some reason) for £10 on Time Out

Possibly but how many of those 2000 attend regular games or just feasting on groupon deals? It’s not sustainable But you were talking about the supposed lack of interested for this game, and all we’re saying is that the actual crowd for this game was possibly the biggest of the season. Whether any newcomers keep coming back is another discussion. And as we’ve already said, I don’t think there were any discounted deals for this game, not via Groupon, not via TimeOut, etc. So most of the crowd were paying the full £26/£22 a ticket.

Is it normal to have this kind of negativity about London Lions on here? There were no discounts or Groupon deals for the match. I went and paid full price. As noted above, I looked on Groupon a few days ago and all the deals seemed to be for midweek games. Seems like there's a lot of negativity about the BBL on here so wouldn't it be good to praise a good attendance rather than claim it's because of non-existent discounts? Not sure how much of it can be said to be about Soko either. I have never watched Love Island in my life but is he really such a big star that people would keep going to basketball matches purely to see him weeks after he signed?
On-topic, it was the third match I've been to this season. Had only been to a couple before this season so trying to make it to as many as possible now. I'm only really going to the weekend games at the moment and skipping ones during the week. Close game in the first half and thought Royals might edge it at one point but Lions got much stronger in the second half and ended up with a fairly comfortable victory. The second half is the most entertaining I've seen the Lions so far this season (although only been to three games this season as I said).
Probably won't be able to make it to the Scorchers game on Friday but looking forward to going again. I would probably go to the vast majority of home games this season if they were all on Saturday/Sunday so that's a bit unfortunate but will keep going when I can.

Is it normal to have this kind of negativity about London Lions on here? Firstly nice to see a new poster on here. Secondly most people are negative about most things usually their own team/ coach/ management/ import players/ anything else. Thirdly your post is one of the most positive for a while so congratulations. The BBL might not be perfect, teams/may be underperforming but it's still fun and frustrating at the same time.

You can't take anything said on here seriously. Stevetino for example, has generally never had anything pleasant to say about Lions & Vince, this has gradually become more evident since Newcastle have been playing like **** & not being successful anymore! I'm sure when Eagles finally get back to winning something he'll become much nicer! I think he probably joined the Eagles army as a glory hunter & since they haven't won anything for a while is rather bitter & twisted!

The original negativity in the thread was about lack of people discussing the game on here, then saying that Lions/Vince must be disappointed. Which, as we’ve said, is ridiculous given the actual crowd at the game was 2,000+ and nearly all paying the full ticket £22/£26 price. Regarding the lack of discount deals at the moment, whilst it’s annoying for those looking for a bargain, we can only assume that Lions have decided not to offer any right now because they don’t need to. The required numbers appear to be happy to the full ticket price (for whatever reason) – for now. And as you say, that’s got to be a positive. Oh, and by the way – welcome.

Royals fought well in the first half, so much so I admit I was a bit worried. I was just hoping their 7 man rotation would tire in the second half against a much deeper bench from Lions. And it did. But as I said before, I’m still very impressed with the way Royals are performing right now given all their issues on and off the court. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of crowd Lions get for the Scorchers game tomorrow (Friday) night. I’ll be there (and yes, paying full price!).
