Interesting decision, which I would agree seems a bit excessive. What’s also interesting is that the suspension isn’t for their next game (against Lions) but the one after (against Raiders). Why’s that?

Apparently FIBA rules say that suspensions take place 7 days after the offence - so not Lions but Raiders.

Seems just a touch harsh that.
And by harsh I mean completely ridiculous. Guys naturally gravitate to a situation like that to break it up. Even if they didnt it wasnt like it was a mass brawl.
Farcical really.

Farcical really. Yeah was handbags at best. Daft thing is if there was advertising boards between court and benches this won't of happened. Kuyinu is very unlucky as from memory he was holding Hawthorne back, but was just the typical bloke reaction like you say - making his presence known for his team mate. But then again its a well known rule and they will know it. I dont know if a small fine for players would be better option?

Farcical really. Exactly - I could understand it if there was brawl with punches being thrown but this was far from that...

Had the same thing happen to me once, I left the bench to break up a fight (may have thrown a punch) got a 1 match ban for leaving the bench not for fighting. Thought it was odd but it is quite clear in the rule book all players are given. Harsh rule imo especially if they're stopping things from escalating. Surrey will still win i suspect

Seems harsh - but if its a rule then its a rule I suspect the "backs against the wall" status suits Scorchers and so it won't do us much harm...

Exactly and what punishment does Hussein get... One match ban! The rule is in place to stop benches clearing.

I think "it" has been blown out of all proportions. "It" is nothing of any note. Should probably have just all moved on, but no no the BBL make a t*ts up of it as per.

Strange because an ejection is not an automatic ban in EBL.

I do actually quite like the rule that an ejection leads to a suspension though. Call it basketballs red cards, doesn't matter what you get one for in football you still serve a suspension.

So the BIG question is will Raiders get their first win, with Scorchers missing 2 players?

Not sure I follow your logic - you seem to be arguing that each case should be judged on its merits for most of the article but then conclude that BE's stance on an automatic suspension is correct. Am I missing something ?

I wonder if Joel Freeland fancies a game ?!?
