Lions are a shadow of last seasons team They don't actually have many plays They don't move the ball or make space for each other Its like they've never played with each other before They are all static at times? They rebound v well though & peel, soko & Robinson are formidable, more impressive than Riders were up here

Didn't look like Eagles weren't put under pressure from where I was sitting. Lions played full court on us all night long and we were able to consistently pass out of it well. Lions looked pretty good to me, but we just seemed to execute better than they did. I don't think Lions should be called a poor team because of last night. They're the first team this season to come up against our first choice back court. Difficult to scout when you have never seen them play together. It was good to see lots of people who were new to basketball at the ECA tonight. The game was a good advert for the BBL and hopefully we can turn a few of those people in to regular attendees. The newbies around me seemed to be impressed by the game night experience. Well done Eagles on a successful night on court and off it. You only have to look at the scoring It was just open basketball. I think the first quarter was something like 30-24. That's never going to happen when we play you next week. Entirely different game of basketball.

Good all round performance from the Eagles tonight, probably the the best performance since moving into the ECA, a bit dissapointed by some of the comments about the Lions, why has it got to be that one team was poor or rolled over, from where I was sitting it was two good teams going at it and without getting into the technicalities, Eagles came out on top on the night, it doesn’t make Lions a poor team, it was just a good game of basketball, let’s give credit where it’s due.

Last week beating Lions was the key to winning the league. This week theyre finished and dont even move. Go figure. I didn't realise just how bad lions were Thought we made them look poor last week I think they might actually just be poor Eagles looked good though. Should be a great game next week. Weve got a job to do on scorchers first though Let’s not lose perspective here... Lions lost by 11 points, away, to a team who are currently 3rd in the league and a clear championship contender. Soko scored 33, Robinson 19, and Peel 14. Hardly ‘awful’. Just beaten by the better team on the night.

I have said more than once eagles played well booma. No denying that Riders played well last week But I honestly believe Lions are nowhere near as good as last season Which is obviously an opportunity for eagles and riders to exploit

The same Lions who won the League with plenty to spare last season They are relying on Robinson and Soko to make something happen way too much I shouldn't complain though as it makes it easier to beat them than last season

Lions were a little Lax on defence at times but it was a very good game of basketball, Eagles won because they executed better on offence but it wasn't a poor Lions performance, it was far better than last week's effort at Riders.

Looked like they were relying way too much on Robinson and Soko to make something happen to me. Still not the team play of last season. And the game wasn't competitive. Simple as that. Eagles were never under pressure after the first 2 or 3 minutes. They won comfortably. Last season's Lions were significantly better than this season's Lions IMO

What are u on about? 2 fans on here hardly speaks for the entire fan base! 💪 What are you on about? At no point did I say 'the entire fan base' though 75% of the Eagles fans who posted in this thread before the game more or less implied that Eagles have naff all chance in the league and should be prioritising Sunday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy fixture. I seem to recall, Steven, that you have been mighty chuffed in the past to win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy......

Was a really good game to watch, so many entertaining moments, a good advert for the game. Lions were certainly not bad we were just better. They will be tough to play down at their place and will still have a lot to say in what happens this season.
Watching the Scorchers/Riders game last night the Riders are certainly beatable and Surrey nearly did it, was just who made the bigger plays down the stretch.
Eagles are looking good at the moment and hope it continues, putting in good team performances and the results will come. Not getting carried away as only a couple of weeks ago was saying how poor we looked.
But had a lot of injuries then so maybe with our full rotation of players, with Drew and Eddie still to come back from injury this is the team and performances we are meant to see.
Was great to see Glasgow Jr suiting up and that saga is now dealt with. Made a huge impact and I think it makes the team have a totally different look with him on the floor, makes the team better around him and gives us better spacing when him and Fletch are on the floor.
Saunders also gives us that extra body that can do a lot of different things. Morsell is awesome when he gets going, CJ is unstoppable and I thought Darius put in a shift defensively last night and was big for us in that area.

I seem to recall, Steven, that you have been mighty chuffed in the past to win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy...... I don't remember dancing naked through the streets baldeagle, in all honesty. I've slammed this competition a bunch of times in the past, including during the back to back to back years that we won it. I'm amazed it survived last summer's revamp intact. It would have been the first one I'd have looked to change. If the BBL wants a not enormously important competition with a long-winded and tedious round robin phase to kick off it's season, I think the Trophy would be perfect for that.

The link up play between Fletch, Glasgow and CJ was an absolute joy to watch at times. It really opens the floor up as teams can't just double or triple up on Fletch anymore.

Now that Gettys is on your roster and Glasgow is able to take the floor I think that Eagles have got to be in contention as possible league winners. Beating them next week won't be easy. Not many have managed to stop Gettys so that'll be key to our game plan.

TBF there is no Valentines Day thread yet, and when there is, it'll probably reach 10 pages, so no problems with MRF's advice
