Matt Scott. Wow
Former London Royal, Matt Scott has followed in the footsteps of Will Neighbour by joining the Plymouth Raiders for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
The 6’4” guard, originally from Brooklyn, New York, was having an impressive first BBL season, averaging 20.2 point per game, pulling down 7.2 rebounds as well as dishing out 2.8 assists across the 12 Cup appearances.
His 20.2 points per game placed him second in the Cup in scoring, but that was bettered by his first place in average steals, with 2.4 per game, and Raiders’ fans will be hoping to see this impressive form continue.
However, his best performance in the BBL to date was against the Surrey Scorchers in the BBL Trophy last month, where he not only notched up an incredible 42 points, but pulled down 16 rebounds, dished five assists and snatch two steals in a complete all round performance that resulted in an enormous Index rating of 47.
In recognition of his terrific first BBL season, Scott was named as the BBL Player of the Month for November, and the Raiders will be looking for the 23-year-old to continue to play to those high standards once in a green vest.
Speaking of Scott’s arrival, Raiders’ Head Coach, Paul James said, “I’m delighted to be able to improve our roster with a talent such as Matt Scott.
“He has shown what he is capable of doing in the BBL when at the London Royals, so he is a very exciting addition to the group and I’m very much looking forward to working with him.
“It also shows that we as a club have not given up on trying to make the playoffs and will continue to do what we can whilst there is still a possibility”.
Matt added, “I’m very thankful to be here in Plymouth with this solid group of players and staff. I can’t wait to get things started here and help them compete and win ball games.
“I’m here to do whatever they need me to”
Scott will be making his Raiders’ debut at the Worcester Wolves this Friday night, and fans can tune in to the BBL YouTube channel to follow the footage Live Streamed.
However, fans lucky enough to have a ticket for Sunday’s clash against the Leicester Riders will get their first chance to see Scott in home action, where the Raiders will be looking to get a long-awaited win over the current BBL Play-off Champions.
