Credit to Defoe - his desire is still there. He just doesn't have the energy to back it up. Small glimpses of quality still but so few and far between as most of the game he is gasping for air. He was genuinely gasping for air after less than a minute. Down on his knees with his hands right in front of me. And he's got young guys against him running him all over the place It's not possible for him to compete. He looks heavy as well now. That’s why he’s been coming off the bench INF, Cj starts with Hussain Hussain looked the only other player that might be decent with lots more good players around him. But even he would be borderline I think. Not sure you will bring any of them back next season based on tonight. And if Gettys is out for any length of time you could lose to anybody you play in the next few weeks except Giants

Riders' offence and defence clicked tonight but it was the latter that really defeated Eagles - they had no penetration at all, especially when Glasgow was your sole guard. What's even more amazing is we could have scored at least another 10 points if N-H had converted his opportunities at the basket.

Will be a good test of our team basketball against two dangerous players together. We won against Robinson and Soko. I expect the same against Fletch and Gettys. I'm not sure your coach has the nous to adjust stuff if plan A isn't working tbh

Just copy our model. Young and energetic British players - JWH, Spencer, Anderson, Johnson, Chuku. You need 3 or 4 like them. And then fit your imports around them. You can't fit second rate and old Brits around imports any more. You need a strong core of Brita to fit imports around. It's not rocket science and I said this for last couple of seasons about eagles. It's not hindsight. 100% this, I was concerned about this in the summer when we were announcing signings and there were a lot of returning players who have been getting worse as the years go by. Quality imports can only take you so far, you need to have depth to compete in this league. Seeing a lot of people blaming the coach again on social media, for me the buck stops with the players. There are players at Eagles who are treated very well, and it is just wasted resource as we get so little return out of it. As I've said all along this season, I can take a defeat on the chin. It's the manner of the performances being put in that frustrate the hell out of me. They have the best of everything when compared to players at most other clubs, the least that can be expected of them is to take some responsibility for themselves and play with some pride.

Eagles with 9 suited up, more likely a 6 man rotation of any scoring threats. Riders do most things well. This isn’t one of them. Obviously never heard of the zoom facility

The heart of Riders is JWH. Whenever he is fit and on court the whole team's work ethic rises simply to try and match his drive and desire to win. He should be the first one to be re-signed. If you watch the game again you'll see what I mean. From the second he appears on court the team is lifted. Some have criticised Eagles for a lack of effort but I didn't see that personally. They just lacked ideas at times and that is partly down to the coach. Are Eagles missing Fab? Hard act to follow.

No need to buy any chocolates for Valentines. That was sweet
A big word for Corey Johnson last night. He had clearly been ordered to stick like glue to Rahmon Fletcher and deny him the ball. If you get a chance to go back and watch the game, check it out. Masterclass.

If you get a chance to go back and watch the game, check it out. Masterclass. Jamal was given that job at the start. But Fletch started hot and after 4 mins Rob changed it to Corey Johnson I assume both of them were trained all week to smother him Did you see Fletch right near the end trying everything he could to get some space for a shot and then throwing up an airball miles from the basket I watched Rob have a smirk on his face. Knowing Fletch couldn't deal with what we had done to him. And the desperate shot at the end summed it all up. The last few years Fletch must hate playing against us. We dont allow him to play his game. He has glimpses of genius but most of the time we smother him. He can't look forward to playing us.

This isn't a new look Eagles with new problems to solve I remember 4 years ago the club saying they would look to rebuild and inject more athleticism and energy. We outworked eagles back then and we've done it ever since And eagles have failed to address it each season It's a team so reliant on Fletch to make things happen it's untrue At least they brought CJ in to help Fletch this season

The real difference between Eagles and Riders will be the day to day training. The intensity and the energy in training each day Rob will be demanding and getting compared to Eagles will be significant. The attention to detail on how to stop the opposition will be significant. I've seen what they do. Riders train with videos on our big screens just scrolling through of each opposition players plays and moves. And you can't just turn intensity on and off like a tap on matchday.
It becomes habit. Same in any sport. Train hard, prepare hard, play hard.
We get the basics right every week at least to give ourselves the best chance of winning a game

Defoe has been there, seen it and done it all. But they don't seem to be in amongst the players and really instilling the good habits etc. Just playing their own game. And in Defoe's case gasping for breath whenever the plays stops. And the coach wasn't reacting to stuff with any passion that I saw. He should have been fuming at some of what he was watching. I'm over simplifying stuff probably. I'm sure the desire is there to win. But last night Eagles were a million miles away from where they needed to be. And nobody seemed to have any answers.

I was stood with a tray of chips as the Eagles walked past me to the locker rooms at half time I seriously wanted to offer Defoe a chip as he came past but I managed to stop myself! Not sure whether he would have taken one or sent me on a trip to hospital ! I suspect the latter.

There was a few rumblings about something going on at halftime between Eagles players, that was posted on the Eagles Facebook page. To be fair, so there should've been after that performance.

I thought they would have been either moaning at each other or trying to get each other up. But they were just all walking silently together. Maybe it kicked off behind closed doors?

What a difference 1 week makes?
Last week Eagles looked like they would be strong challengers for the league again and Riders finding it very hard to win at Surrey
Eagles impressing and Riders casting doubts about themselves
