Well done Sheffield - made the smarter decisions and built a lead whilst Fletcher and Defoe sat on the bench.
More dross from the Eagles.
Why, if you are 2 points down with under 30 secs left, would you ever try to run the clock down rather than taking the first shot you can, giving yourself a chance of a second chance ball and trusting your defence?
No doubt Gettys (massively missed) and maybe Lasker/ Mathew will be back for the Trophy final next weekend. And after that, if they are all fit, we may perhaps see whether this Eagles squad can finally gel to make a run in the play offs. At the moment I have zero confidence in that happening. The only comfort is that every other team seems flawed as well this season.

Unfortunately we need a new coach. As much as I like Mac as a person he is not a head coach. We are now underdogs for the trophy final

Think Sharks were fortunate to win in the end because they made a host of careless choices despite pulling off a victory. Obviously, Gettys sorely missed.

Lots of missed shots tonight. Not checked stats, but was Nick's figures? MVP Friday with 26 points but struggled to to score in this game. How many 3s did he miss? How many did he get.
Thought we started running the clock down from about the last 4 minutes, taking air out of the ball with a decent lead. It looked like it was the wrong thing to do as Eagles did eat away at that lead.
We did however manage to do just enough to keep our noses in front. Not real bothered about that last 3 although it was a good shot. On the inbound Mackey could very easily be heard shouting 'dont foul' this lead to an uncontested shot, which really didnt make a difference to the game or the H2H, apart from making the score look better for the Eagles.
3 of our 7 homes (5 in March) done and 6 points gained. Climbing slowly up the league to a more respectable position.

Any more court time he surely would have fouled out. A balancing act; bring him on earlier but chance him fouling out when he maybe needed later. |

Just checked the records - Eagles have always been top 3 since 2004 and top 6 since 1999 - Top 3 ain't going to happen and top 6 is looking doubtful, unless there are more surprises. That's now our main hope, given the number of surprises so far this season !

Paul Blake should have made the change after our catastrophic second half of the Cup campaign. It was clear to see as far back as then that there was no structure, no plan b and that the players dont buy into his philosophy. I actually think this is a fairly talented roster. If I was offered 8th now and a guaranteed play off position I'd take it.
