They couldn't get rid of aims quick enough. Moses was signed as an injury risk - proved he was an injury risk and wasn't signed again. And it Paige the player who would play for the team and played for himself. Eagles fans tired of him doing that before the end of the season. So from that list I'm allowing Smith, Parks and Martin

The league is becoming a lot more even now. Its good for the BBL and good for British Basketball. I don't get Eagles fans whingeing about not winning every game like we used to when we probably had 10 times the budget of some other teams and what a lot of people would say was the greatest BBL player of all time. Success will come but there will need to be tough decision about fans favourites like Drew and Darius. Keep them and we lose because of them, get rid of them and we loose because they left. The hard part is building a new core of British players who aren't quite good enough to leave and play in Europe but aren't just here to make up the numbers like Kai Williams.

I think you aren’t accurate about the every game comment, most eagles fans just want to be competitive at least which they haven’t been at times this e season, you are right about moving on from the likes of Darius tho, he’s past it

On court I think it certainly seems that way at the moment. To be honest I probably prefer the way things are in the league now, compared to when we were winning a lot a few years ago. Losses don't really bother me too much, but the manner of some of our surrenders are really hard to take.
Off court Eagles are doing so many things right, and it's great to see how rooted in the community they really are. Match night experience is decent (more could be done with music choice etc IMO) and the new arena provides an excellent space for watching basketball, and we've had some great nights in the last year.
We are in a good place apart from the on court performance at the moment but it was always going to be difficult replacing Fab. His presence was huge around the place and I feel like our team really lacks that character at the moment.

These debates are a waste of time really....
It always devolves into this "Riders are perfect and everyone else is ****" absolute drivel.
Riders are not the dominant team in the league anymore....nor are Eagles. The reasons for this are numerous and I couldn't give a toss whether people agree with that. They are not the authority to tell me my opinion is wrong.

The only sensible comment to make in respect of this thread is that the question mark in the title should be deleted. As a statement, it is clearly true - although of course things could change in the future and, given the stability of their finances, home court arrangements and fanbases, there is every chance of one or both of them rising to the top of the pile again. (I'm tempted to add "Let's be honest").

Looking at the table today saw a sight not seen on a BBL table nor a natural history programme for years, an Eagles underneath a Phoenix.

Although Eagles are not as strong on court as they were 5 or so years ago I’m pretty confident that they will continue to be s major player in the bbl. with Blake heading the show and owning the arena the infrastructure still looks pretty strong to me. Likewise Riders. Vince seems capable of pulling rabbits out of hats but I’m guessing no Peel next year and rumours are rumours but is there the finance to maintain their current position. Rocks, Wolves, Flyers all seem to be on the rise and Raiders are the great unknown but one would expect an upturn next season with the new partnership. Top 2 on their own maybe not be definitely will continue to be major players in the bbl. Eagles need to sort out their coaching position but they’re not alone in that.

I know Peel is studying at University of East London, does his course end this summer? He’ll be a great loss to Lions. I knew the day will come, he’s too good of a player to stick around in the BBL once his studying is done, but I wasn’t sure when that day would be…

Admired Peel throughout his time in the BBL. One player I wish we'd poached from Lions!

Your match night experience needs someone new on the microphone. Let's be honest. Haha yeah, that's easier said than done though! Well it's just another example of everybody seeing and knowing there's an opportunity to improve at Eagles but nobody being prepared to make a decision. And again it's no doubt loyalty and I totally understand how it happens. I get it and more than once I've shown respect to the guy who's been doing it and dedicated a big part of his life to the club And he's been a brilliant servant. But he should just be given a season ticket for life and honoured by the club but it's match night entertainment, you've got 2,000 plus people there and you've got such an old fashioned guy doing his best but it's a modern world now But people can't say the match night experience is now where it needs to be when you've got an old timer on the microphone shouting "make some noise" every minute These jobs are getting done by professionals now. Well they should be at eagles level at least.

Actually, having been to the cup away match at Leicester in the autumn, I wouldn’t say that the match night experience was any better.
And the parking was crap.
I think both organisations have performed miracles to fund their own venues, by the way.

But I do know the guy on the microphone is superb though. And works way bigger events than BBL at Riders as a result.
