I’ve heard the Eagles floor-wipers need to up their game too. And don’t even mention the hotdog guy...

Actually, having been to the cup away match at Leicester in the autumn, I wouldn’t say that the match night experience was any better. And the parking was crap. I think both organisations have performed miracles to fund their own venues, by the way. I never claimed the matchnight experience was great at riders. It's ok. But I do know the guy on the microphone is superb though. And works way bigger events than BBL at Riders as a result. What do you get Inf? RIDERS ON DEFENCE repeat as infinitum

Haha yeah, that's easier said than done though! Well it's just another example of everybody seeing and knowing there's an opportunity to improve at Eagles but nobody being prepared to make a decision. And again it's no doubt loyalty and I totally understand how it happens. I get it and more than once I've shown respect to the guy who's been doing it and dedicated a big part of his life to the club And he's been a brilliant servant. But he should just be given a season ticket for life and honoured by the club but it's match night entertainment, you've got 2,000 plus people there and you've got such an old fashioned guy doing his best but it's a modern world now But people can't say the match night experience is now where it needs to be when you've got an old timer on the microphone shouting "make some noise" every minute These jobs are getting done by professionals now. Well they should be at eagles level at least. Some of the crap you come out with in your obsessive desire to prove that Riders are better in every way than Eagles really is desperate.

Have Riders & Eagles lost their way, or this season have Rocks & Wolves finally got coaches who can actually give the team the results on the floor that their budget actually demands??
Both teams have budgets that most other BBL teams would be very happy with. Worcester have been under-performing for years given their infrastructure. They finally have a coach who can do justice to the budget & facilities the team has. Rocks similarly have failed to perform to a level they should have been.
It's certainly the most open league we've seen for very many years but with teams only playing 20 games, does winning the title actually mean anything, it's purely jostling for position to give yourselves the best opportunity to win the play- offs. Riders & Eagles are both capable of winning them, Eagles seem to be resting Gettys especially for them!
But hey, let's just talk about announcers & how irritating they can be!

Stop talking bollox hersey. Someone said eagles had got things right on matchnight off the court. I disagreed. Someone else then brought riders into it.

Yeah, shouldn't have come back and read this thread.
People often criticise this site and I defend it all day long, but stuff like this just makes me sympathise with the critics.

Don't take it too seriously bigz It's only a sports forum after all It's not worth defending and people who don't like it. Why are they even wasting any energy talking about it?

Admired Peel throughout his time in the BBL. One player I wish we'd poached from Lions! Unfortunately Loughborough isn't quite as exciting as London. But we are in Leicester and that's totally different!

Oh no, don't do that. Revert to type and just repeat the same dull crap about Riders being the greatest club ever, Rob being better than guys in the NBA and tell us more about (Trophy finalists) Eagles' failures. Basically play to your strengths; bore everyone to the point that they give up arguing

11,260 posts suggests you didn't try very hard. You seem to think you get to decide when a debate is over

It is sport, teams get to the top and then fall again. When I started watching Basketball Sheffield were the team to beat, then the Eagles took over, followed by Leicester. Now they have started to fall away and for the first time in a long time no team seems to be running away with it.
From an Eagles perspective as others have said it is the manner of our losses which is worrying, on paper and occasionally on court (see London Lions game) we have a team that can beat anybody else in the league but this year the only thing that has been consistent about us is our inconsistency.

There's lots I could say to you in return but like I say I don't want to put the forum through it and I don't want to go there. What I will do is come to one of your games in the near future, support your club, introduce myself and see what you are like in real life. I seriously doubt you can be the same nasty character in real life as you come across on here at times. That would be very hard. (I'm not ruling that out though)! I will be the good guy and see how long you want to carry on being the bad guy.

I'm not sure if I'm a good guy or a bad guy. I probably wouldn't go online and claim to be either. But the "poor me" routine was bound to come out at some stage. He'll continue to try to win arguments by repeating the same, tired, nonsense until anyone with an opposing view gives up and follows Mr Tall's lead by blocking his posts.

Given that this thread is supposed to be largely about Eagles and Riders I don't think we need to be chastising someone for posting here about... Eagles and Riders. Riders & Eagles are both capable of winning them, Eagles seem to be resting Gettys especially for them! But hey, let's just talk about announcers & how irritating they can be! Eagles have lost their way. I won't labour the point too exhaustively as it clearly upsets a few but it's high time we called a spade a spade here. Four, probably soon to be five disappointing years on the isn't a blip and it certainly can't be explained away by the appointments of Lavandier and Newby. Yes I think the competition is tougher now than it was a few years ago, due more to the emergence of Lions as a major player than anything else. But again, that doesn't excuse the fact that Eagles have barely been relevant in the league since 2015 and have been a first round playoff casualty in three of their last four visits. Rob would have been slated on here for a run like they've had. There's no point trying to deny the blindingly obvious any longer. Big changes are needed this summer. Riders' situation is quite different. It's possible we could be en route to a disappointing season. Certainly not writing us off just yet. League and playoffs are both still winnable. But it wouldn't be a total stunner if we drew a blank, trophy-wise for the first time in five years. The thing is even if that happened, I still don't think it would be at all difficult to envision us seriously contending again next season with the same head coach pulling the strings and with a roster containing many of our existing players. I don't see how anyone could possibly feel the same way about Eagles at this point. Does the league still matter? Absolutely. Even though it didn't go brilliantly well for us last season I'm still of the opinion that Europe needs to be the goal for our top teams. It isn't ok for these clubs to be content with just repeating domestic successes ad infinitum. And if winning the league is the only guaranteed route into Europe for BBL clubs (and I'm not aware of that changing) then it remains the most important competition. Even if you don't share this view (and disappointingly many won't), making the quarter and semi-final rounds of the playoffs best of three doesn't change the landscape that dramatically. The league is still the hardest thing to win.

The league is still the hardest thing to win. I hadn't actually considered the Europe angle, so the league would be important for that reason, if we had a club with sufficient finances to play in a European competition. I still find a 20 game league season completely diminishes the competition but hopefully this was a one season wonder. When Lions won the league for the 1st time last season, it was an incredibly special moment, to be the best team in the league was amazing! I know it would have not felt the same in a 20 game season, it would have seriously diminished the achievement, if Wolves or Rocks win the league this season, then they'll be happy but it'll feel a slightly hollow win given the lack of games.
