Also, looks like it might be Martin Gottfried uploading the London Towers videos that have gone on YouTube in the last couple of days. Martin (or whoever it is) - if you read this, thanks and please keep them coming if you can!! Yes, I also yesterday saw a different user has uploaded tigers Vs towers 97/98 playoff semi final but for the life of me cannot find it today. Martin if you are reading this, I would also love as many towers or bbl games you can upload!

Were there ever any Tigers home games filmed for Sky?
I’ve seen a few home recordings pop up this week and that’s fantastic but wondered if there was ever a full production match filmed at The Pit?

There's a tigers Vs bears 1993 game on YouTube at the pit. The leisure centre walls are all covered and the pit is dressed up like I've never seen it before. Must have been for the sky cams.

Brilliant thanks.
Would be good to see anything from Guildford Heat between 05 and 09 too.

It appears Martin Gottfried has upload two more Towers games. Towers Vs sharks and Vs eagles. 1998. Just watched the Newcastle game. Brings back such good memories. These 90s videos from Ko25, Martin and the BBL are fantastic. I'm now really hoping that someone has the play off final from 96-97. I regret getting rid of all my VHS recordings but that's the one I really wish I'd kept.

Also watching these games back reminds me of how much Neville Austin used to frustrate me..

Also watching these games back reminds me of how much Neville Austin used to frustrate me.. I used to feel the same about Neville Austin. Capable of a silky move in one play but would drop a simple pass the next. Good player but definitely frustrating. James Hamilton was the main frustration that season. He didn't really have the skills for the position he was being asked to play, but also didn't seem to try very hard to make it work either. It was obvious early into the season, and Cadle made a few comments in interviews during the year about him needing to come to play and be more productive. I always wondered why we didn't try to bring in someone more suitable.

Watching back these games now I didn't quite realise just how good Keith Robinson was either. Heck of a player.

The white and tan looked awesome. They changed the panelling on it a few years later and it wasn't the same.

When they first went to the tan and white (1998/99 I think?) the lexum comp was a drastically better ball than the updated version a few years later. This was when it had the 'cushion technology control' logo printed on it.
It felt softer and more cushiony.

Did Baden just offer them a good deal? Close up the ball looked good and it handled well, but as a fan watching I always thought it looked a a bit cheap compared to the "normal" coloured balls that European leagues and the NBA were using.

I think Molten just came in with a better deal - plus it was being used around Europe at the time too so not sure if that had anything to do with it. Sounds really sad this but I loved nothing more than getting the white and tan panels to blend in to one another as the ball moved - helped no end with the rotation on my jump shot haha!

Sorry - I read that wrong, thought you meant why the league went away from it. I seem to remember reading a piece that was about visibility of the ball to fans - found that the white and tan was more easily seen in a crowd than the plain tan.

I think I remember reading about visibility too but I assumed that was marketing nonsense. I heard a lot of different criticisms from BBL fans over the years but "the ball isn't bright enough" was never one!!

Towers Vs sharks 1999.
One of the most talented Towers teams, but also one of the most disappointing. Watching this back now Lino Frantin seems to have zero respect from the players and they are a mess offensively looking completely out of sync. Maybe something to do with the late addition of Randy Duck who paired with Danny Lewis didn't really seem to work. Although both obviously were huge talents.
I remember being at this game but didn't recall Randy Duck and Terrell Myers going at each other so hard. Randy gives Terrell a elbow at one point and both are verbally abusing each other the whole time.

My memory of that season is struggling initially for chemistry but things picking up gradually when Randy Duck came in to replace Eric Kubel. Watching that game back I got the impression a big part of it was the relationship between Duck and Lewis. Definitely think the players not believing in Frattin was an issue that season, but by the play offs I thought there seemed to be a grudging sort of respect between them all. Given all that it was a big surprise when we rehired Lino a few years later. Obviously Rick Taylor still had faith in him so maybe he thought the players caused more of the problem than Frattin that year, but it didn't work out anyway as he was then sacked mid season!

You probably have a better memory than me! They did win the playoff title so a bit of an overreaction by me to say they were a big disappointment! I just felt they should of stormed the league talent wise before Duck arrived.
This was the weird season after the palace merger where some games were at Wembley and some at Palace. It was never quite the same after this.
