Since, it looks like we've got some spare time on our hands, I'd thought we could take a look
at what players and coaches impressed us (and distressed us) during this short season
Soooo, lets start with the coaches. The only metric I have is the BBL Coach of the month award -
Oct 2019 - Lloyd Gardner (Royals)
Nov 2019 - Rob Paternostro (Riders)
Dec 2019 - Vince Macaulay (Lions)
Jan 2020 - Matt Newby (Wolves)
Feb 2020 - Rob Paternostro (Riders)
Possible Contenders for Mar (so far) :
Vincent Lavandier (Rocks) with a 100% CH win ratio
Matt Newby (Wolves) and Atiba Lyons (Sharks) with a 66.6% CH win ratio
Ian Mcleod (Eagles) with a 0% CH win ratio ... but a Trophy
...and the Whatsbev coach of the year award (Fan-COTY) goes to .... you decide !!
Now for them players. I have used 2 metrics here(don't laugh)
1. BBL Player of the month award :
Oct 2019 - Brandon Peel (Lions)
Nov 2019 - Matt Scott (Royals)
Dec 2019 - CJ Gettys (Eagles)
Jan 2020 - CJ Gettys (Eagles)
Feb 2020 - Parker-Jackson Cartwright (Phoenix)
Mar 2020 - ? ...and I couldnt be bothered to crunch the stats, but...
CJ Gettys pretty much won Eagles a Trophy and got MVP (so you decide)
2. The All Star Five Thread :
I base this list on the number of times a player appears in the all star five (including off the bench)
Note: The list was quite extensive (50+), so I have cut it down to 6 and above appearances.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright – Phoenix 13
Ali Fraser - Rocks 10
Matt Scott – Royals/Raiders 10
Mackey Mcknight - Sharks 9
CJ Gettys - Eagles 9
Cortez Edwards - Wolves 8
Fred Thomas – Flyers 8
Amir Williams – Wolves 8
Nick Lewis – Sharks 7
Gentrey Thomas – Flyers 7
Brandon Peel – Lions 7
Rashad Hassan – Raiders 7
Mike Morsell - Eagles 6
Connor Cashaw – Sharks 6
Greg Pryor - Rocks 6
What surprised me, is how most of us on here talk about Gettys, Peel, Mcknight as well as others.
But the likes Fraser and Cartwright just go about their job and doing the business on court !!
...and the Whatsbev Player of the year award (Fan-MVP) goes to .... you decide !!
Sooooo, there ya have it. Just a few things to talk about now that the season is possibly-probably-maybe over.
If any of the stats anal-ists on whatsbev want to do some more precise number crunching on here ... feel free.
On a side note, it will be interesting to see-compare with what the Hack's go for (assuming they bother this year)
Any suggestions on how we can make this more official and be taken seriously by the BBL illuminati, let us know!!
We may well do a pole on this stuff sometime in the future ... will discuss it with the Mods/Admin staff on how it could be structured.
Byeeeeeeee!!!!!
