British MSM will bring it up and mention it yet no country has seen a significant increase. www.irishtimes.com/news/world/coronavirus-south-korea-warns-of-second-wave-as-germany-sees-spike-in-cases-1.4249656Latest news link above - Germany and South Korea are facing problems already and their public are far more disciplined and careful than ours The images this weekend of what happens in the UK when we relax lockdown only slightly shows UK citizens are going to be amongst the worst in the world to be trusted to social distance when allowed to do stuff Sadly Luckily all our stuff is happening outdoors. Allow people to do what happened the last few days indoors and weve got no chance of conbasketball kiting this Give people in UK an inch and they take a mile I've rarely been out since lockdown began, at the weekend I went to see my 2 nephews on Saturday and that's been about it, it's going to suck for me next month, my 32nd birthday is coming up.

Its not about keeping them now though is it - its the restart when sponsors cant commit and clubs cant get more than a third of their normal attendance figures owing to social distancing. Said it before and will say it again......THERE WILL BE NO BASKETBALL UNTIL THERE IS A CURE/VACCINE FOR THE VIRUS. And most clubs in the UK and Europe will have to mothball everything until late next year at the earliest. Who in their right mind would want to watch a full season of basketball without fans. The fans make the atmosphere.....at least that's what Lebron once said I think. And most important, clubs can operate without gate receipts, secondary spend like food and beverage. No fans buying tickets also leads to no sponsorship. Wait for it...........maybe Barry Hearn can stage a few games on Sky to keep things going. I won't hold my breath! So no basketball until next year so we just stop with all of the wishful thinking and accept the new normal. Even more apocalyptic, with all the crazy race related rioting going on in the States, I can't even imagine football and basketball starting back up even without fans given most of the owners are Trump supporters and the most of the players are Black. We are in perilous times people. I take it you're hiding under the bed in case the sky falls in?
I'm sure when the NBA restarts in a couple of months you'll come back and admit you were wrong.

"... It is disappointing but not in the least bit surprising, that the BBL board have decided to dismiss the efforts of our coach and players who at the time had proved themselves to be the strongest team in the Championship...."
That has got to be among the most graceless statements I have ever heard. Could you see Eagles, Riders, Lions, Wolves or any other BBL club coming out with such bilge? I couldn't. I'd throw a fine at them.

I'm just a realist, not a wishful thinker. No one expects this racial issue in the States to be over anytime soon, let alone in a couple of months. Will the American public be willing to watch basketball on telly in any meaningful way with a pandemic raging at the same time as racial issues and protests going on? Will Black players even want to play during all of this, especially since many of the owners are Trump supporters? You underestimate the seriousness of it all mate. I've spent a lot of time in the States and have family there, no one believes an NBA season is going to start back up in the middle of all this. What exactly is your rationale Hersey, other than delusional wishful thinking!!

Realism would be the fact that the restart is two months away and that the mighty $$$$ will win over. Players stand to lose 20% of their annual cheque, not to mention play-off bonuses etc. And, yes, the public will watch games, TV companies will screen them, a proportion of owners will remain Trump supporting arsholes. And the user formally known as Future will come back with a new name. I don't know why you're mixing the two issues - other than you talk a fair amount of crap - especially when this thread is about the BBL

It's a shame, perhaps it'll be time for a shake up of what is essentially an English league with a Scottish team tacked on. We need to rip it up and start again but that begs the question, where do you begin, scrap all the national Associations and form a new governing body for Basketball in GB with a representative on the board being from each country? What is stopping the Welsh from being in the GB setup? Remind me... there aren't any Canadian teams in the NBA right?

Are we expecting a BBL 20/21 season? Is there any teams that can afford to play games with social distancing on the go?

Just to make things worse for Rocks fans
Reporting Scotland briefly mentioned how Rocks didn’t win the title and the boss wasn’t pleased. Apparently he’s going on BBC Scotland channel at 9pm to talk about it.

Scorchers have said today that they are working out the refund for season ticket holders. I can't speak for all fans, but i certainly do not want a refund. Would rather the club keep it, i am sure they need it more than me. Best case scenario i can see is next season starting with crowds limited to 300-400. Then gradual increases when safe to do so. Another problem could be if the players have to be regularly tested, surely no BBL club could afford to do this.

I’m planning to start a new league and I’m cautiously optimistic it will start in 2027/2028 after the seventeenth wave.

Scorchers beat lions in their last game before the lockdown. I would therefore argue they were the best team at the point championship ended and should have been awarded the trophy!

Im wandering if he had deals lined up based on being league winners. He said it wasn't about the fans... moron Sounds like it. David Low said the below on the league resolution: "If ever there was a sport led by donkeys it’s this sport. How to scare off sponsors and supporters of pro basketball in one easy lesson. I give you the BBL board of directors." I just have to ask... How does Glasgow being handed the trophy help Bristol, Leicester, Plymouth etc. gain sponsorships and supporters? It's just all about them and nothing else. "It wouldn't have hurt anybody to give us the title"... Yes, but you didn't win it! It wouldn't have hurt anybody to give it to the Giants either. They also didn't earn it.

I've been thinking about this. We won our final three games and reasonably could have expected to have won at least four of our final three games, while Solent lost their final game. Therefore I can't see any reason why we're not crowned D1 champions and we find out what
actually meant when they scrapped the National Trophy.

If you have/had tickets to any games that didn't take place, please consider not asking for a refund unless you really need to. Even allowing the teams/BBL to keep your money in return for future tickets (as I did with my Play Off Final tickets) benefits them so much more than requesting a refund.

Why give the BBL your hard earned for something they haven’t delivered? Use it to spend on a teams home game if you need to but don’t ever give a club or organisation your money for nothing!
