Apparently he has left the eagles ,bit of a joke if he has as the club looked after him while he was waiting for his passport

And?... Did he sign a five year deal we weren't aware of?

From what I know (rumour mill, not insider info), he was supposed to be on a 2 year contract and I think there was an understanding that it would be quite a long term arrangement.
Quite a few Eagles fans are pretty annoyed about it on social media, but I think we're in pretty unprecedented times and it's pretty harsh to hammer the bloke for it. It's a short career and an even more uncertain career now so gotta take the money when you can in my opinion. Also didn't think he was as good as a lot of people made out, went missing in lots of games when he did play.

If it's a 2 year contract they won't give him international clearance.
If the second year was a gentleman's agreement, he's been a bit of a git (all things considered) but in tbe current climate i can see why he'd take the bird in the hand....

Cannot see why any fuss about this at all?
I doubt Eagles can commit in any way to his wages, travel, living expenses at this stage
So if he was entitled to another years money from them he's just done them a big favour finding another club
Which players play for Eagles next season (if and when it happens) will be the least of their concerns right now?

Has any of the management at Eagles complained about this in any way?

I am sure that there will be a dignified silence from the Eagles, but equally sure that RG will have had a good offer for next season. The club stood by him last season when passport issues could easily have caused them to cut and run, and word on the grapevine was that in return RG had indicated very clearly that he would be staying. After the Trophy final he pretty much tweeted as much. So who knows what has happened here - my guess is that an agent may have blinded him with the prospect of glory in......er......Iceland. Hope he likes the dark.

Has any of the management at Eagles complained about this in any way? Just fans and a local reporter who is pretty tight with the club who expressed his surprise. Like I say I don't blame him, only surprised as I saw him in my local Lidl last week still driving an Eagles branded car, which had led me to believe he may have been here for the long haul. Good luck to the bloke, gotta take the money while you can in this game.

A 2 year contract clearly doesn’t mean anything in the BBL Zaire Taylor was rumoured to have a 2 year contract when signed with London he just up and left the country to go Europe.
Taylor king didn’t he have a 2 year deal they can’t pay the money like Europe especially now

It would all depend how they are paid as to if they can be furloughed I imagine
Do teams put players PAYE scheme or are the players responsible for paying own taxes

Only time will tell if it's a good move but there's really nothing to see, here. Now who said i never answer questions?

As expected a brief announcement only has appeared on the Eagles’ website. It’s clear that RG did receive a contract offer from Newcastle but that he or his agent decided he should leave.

If the Icelandic league is going ahead and he can earn a living I can't blame him. Of course the club was patient while he couldn't play but as someone else said on here a basketball career is short and who can be certain the BBL will be up and running this autumn?

Of course the club was patient while he couldn't play but as someone else said on here a basketball career is short and who can be certain the BBL will be up and running this autumn? Exactly this. The BBL still has no restart date and with the BBLs Commercial Director saying he can't see the league resuming behind closed doors it could be next year before we start. If he has an offer on the table then why shouldn't he take it.
