Feels like this marks the end of an era for the club. Always liked Callum as a player.

Yeah same, I think it will be the end of his bbl career.
Ingus to Cheshire
James back to coaching

Bit shocked by this, all three have put in work for the club and have real roots in local basketball community. Will be very interesting to see where Giants go next. Not sure if this is cost-cutting or they are planning to spend to be competitive next year (whenever the season happens). Had heard Ingus to Spinners as possibility which would be step down for him but they are on the rise again.

Wow indeed. That really is big news. It would be good if they went to Magic and led them back to D1. Life's just not the same without getting screwed by the refs at the Amaechi. I've always enjoyed interviewing the Jones siblings (and Jeff for that matter), basketball's in their blood, it's hard to see them not involved in the game. I'm not sure where the Giants go from here, though they could start by not pretending they're the club who folded in 2001, because it really hasn't worked out. If the plan is to concentrate on young local talent, it's going to be another long season

The new owner must be putting money in, he just must.
Imagine the jones brothers going to magic, that would be great

I dont get the outrage here.
Ingus was a solid 15lbs overweight last season.
James Jones hasnt been half the player since his first retirement.
Callums been the backbone for years but hes not getting any younger and wasnt as productive last season.
Were forgetting last season was an absolute car crash. The wheels completely fell off. Time to get new wheels as far as Im concerned.

Christ something had to change, and I genuinely dont think Danny was anywhere near the problem.

I don't think there's outrage, it's a noteworthy piece of news though. And it was only 80% of 0 wins.
Personally I'm outraged that fuel is going uo now that I'm occasionally using my car again.

Bigger margins of defeat Its one of them, if they lose every game to me thats worse than winning one and losing every other by 60. On a purely basketball basis this decision makes a lot of sense to me, no room for sentiment. Callums numbers are on the decline, James isnt anywhere near what he was pre retirement and Ingus is a volume shooter whos out of shape. Get 4 yanks, bring Fullah Dave and Jack back, get anothet wing and they should look stronger than last year on paper.

Ingus off the bench and especially Callum still had something to offer imo Though It seems a far cry to the talent they had when they returned to the bbl.: James and Callum, Tintin, Mike Bernard, Steff Gill, Devon Bailey, Dave Aliu, Alan Minster, Nathan Schall, Mo Williams Not sure there’s that level or quantity of local talent available aka Danny’s comment.

Wouldnt Ingus take up one of next seasons "non Brit" spots? Wouldnt be worth having in my opinion. Callum maybe, but how much of the budget is he taking up for the role hed have? Not sure it would be worth it. There was clearly a bigger budget when they first came back, I think thats fairly obvious. The owners became less and less interested (to the point where they were a farce) and unfortunately you have to adapt. New owner, clean rebuild and see what you can do this year. I dont think it will be worse than last.

From what I hear he was happy to take up £0 of the budget next season to play... could be rubbish but that’s the story I’ve been told.

You're forgiven I'd have thought keeping him on the roster for his experience would be worthwhile if he was free. I guess he might struggle with long midweek/Friday trips if he also has to earn a living, but it does look like a big clear out, only next season's results will prove whether it's a good call. Players such as Ingus are going to get squeezed by the new eligibility rules.

If CJ offered to be playing for zero wages then they must be mad to not bite his hand off. He would be able to help younger players develop in terms of how to both play and deal with pressure.

That's a great piece.
We now know it wasn't mutual.
I hope he gets his wish to play a bit longer in the BBL, but if not it'd be great to see him lead Magic back to D1.

Dignified article from CJ - hope he can still play as he wishes to do so for another couple of years.
