On the face of it many will be questioning this but Gareths been running the academy and coaching within scotland for a while. A player of great international and domestic experience. A Rocks player through and through having started out at the open trials. If he can recruit well and is allowed to make mistakes i think it will work well.
Id still say he is the bestand underrated british 3 in the league and will happily debate that until proved wrong!!

I wish Gareth all the luck in the world,
Hes got some very big shoes to fill, The last Rocks coach won the league with some to spare,
So the Rocks natives could be after his blood if the silverware starts to dry up.
Luckily he has about 6 months to get a decent roster together.

Presumably this will cut down his court time, he was playing in excess of 25 minutes a game last season. If he carries on he'll need a really good assistant coach.

Dont think any initial player coach cut their time by that much atiba fab and sterl all played big minutes

Call me a cynic if you like, but this seems like doing it on the cheap. Duncan trying to do something for 80% of the cost again. I wrote this a while ago. |

Duncan disorderly always does stuff in the cheap but, to be fair to him, he needs to at the moment. I doubt a full set if fans will be allowed at games for a good while yet. |

I recall when Cat Johnson was our player coach and it didn't really work out despite him having done the same role earlier at another club. It's a tough job to see the big picture from on court as a coach. It'll be interesting to see how Murray fares. Wish him well. Fab seemed to be the only one who could really manage that dual role.
