I've seen an unofficial interview where Eddie Hearn mentioned this today
They've chosen snooker (as no chanting or jumping up and down involved from supporters and no physical contact from the players etc) as a test indoor spectator event at The Crucible in Sheffield.
Mainly to test what works and doesn't work about getting people in and out etc of indoor venues safely
Eddie said he was hoping they will be allowed 400 people in the arena in total
It's normally a 1,000 seater
It's a start
Fingers crossed it all goes well and we can build on it for other indoor sports
First two weeks of August so not too far away either

Snooker pilot: Crucible Theatre - from 31 July The World Snooker Championships at the Crucible will be the first indoor event with crowds, allowing around 300 supporters in for each session - about a third of the normal capacity.
Audience members will only sit directly next to people who they purchased tickets with and are in the same household groups, meaning there will be a metre of space between people from separate bubbles.
People will have to wear masks whilst walking around but not when they are sat and watching the games
The bars will not be open

how long will a session at the snooker be? If going to allow people to buy tickets to be in a session of 2hrs plus then that seems a fair compare to see if could use same controls for a basketball game and a max of 2hrs inside for spectators.

Ha, oh dear. The UK Government has made a right mess of this.
Mixed messages, Dominic Cummings and his eye test in Barnard Castle, then you have pubs and other non essential businesses being opened up far too soon.

Don’t want to put words in your mouth so to clarify are you suggesting that the handling of the pandemic by Scottish/Welsh/NI devolved authorities has been better?

On the specific charge that the Scottish scientific officer broke the rules and resigned and the PMs chief adviser broke the rules (then lied to us all) and didn't resign I think the point is unanswerable.

Calderwood had no other choice, she broke the rules and resigned. England's did not. And yes connors, I would say the rUK has handled it better than Bungling BoJo.
Besides Sturgeon has been clear with the Scottish public whereas Boris and his government are making it up as they go long. Boris tried herd immunity but that didn't work out so well and it suddenly went away. The government's lockdown was undermined with Dominic Cummings excuse that was akin to saying "Do what you like"

You mean the full uk initial approach was herd immunity.
Seems to be sturgeon can do no wrong and the scottish press lap it up. Its been a cluster **** by the full of the UK. All quick for a 1 UK approach when shutting down but opening up in scotland has been just as much of a farce than the rest of the uk.
Also calderwood was defended massively by the snp high horses. Sounds familiar. Only difference was she left soon whereas cummings didnt.

BBC Science and Health correspondent has suggested without a vaccine we have reached the limit of how far we can ease lockdown in UK already
Pessimistic but probably true sadly

I agree Youngrocks. Sturgeon has kicked the issue around like a political football and to be fair run rings around Boris. However much like being in opposition to the gov it’s very easy to snipe away from the sidelines or in hindsight. We do it all the time on this site.
Bottom line is it’s a massive challenge. No country has the solution and we’re in it for the long haul.
Massive credit to BE for holding their nerve today and not knee jerking on their decision to take us to level 2. It’s not without risk but frankly if not now when??
I would prefer that matter like this on critical national importance were handled by the UK gov but that’s just me. I believe in the Union...
As Ben Elton used to say”Ooh a little bit of politics there!”
Stay well folks 👍🏀

Political football or not
No deaths in Scotland in the last 21 days Clear concise daily explanations of what’s going on Accountability for people who break the rules
I know which side of the border i’d prefer to live on.

Talk of some MPs pushing for non-league football to allow fans, as it’s not viable to play without them... Something that might have parallels for UK basketball, though one of the points made does seem to be that getting a few hundred fans should be viable for an outdoor venue. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53817206

I know I may not read your blogs with the same intensity shown by Interested Riders Fan, but I'm struggling to see where you have gone to for your hols
Its like reading a match report that is full of enjoyable titbits, (or should that be tidbits?), but that is ultimately unsatisfying in that the final score is not mentioned. Your accompanying photo shows blue skies and palms, but that is not unique enough for me to determine the location
