How bad were Manchester then that they couldn't beat a mid table EBL1 team with one of their best players betting against his own team?!!
Looking at his stat line it doesn't look like he played bad - 22 & 7 with 6/8 from 3pt. Obviously don't know what he done on defence from the stats but doesn't appear like he tried to throw the game.

I'm rather disappointed he's retired, it would have given plenty of opportunity to heckle him!! Same! Id love to ask him for the odds from the crowd! Man that would have been awesome! |

Same! Id love to ask him for the odds from the crowd! Man that would have been awesome! I laid in to josh Steel for similar reasons, team huddles I asked his team mates to check their phones and he was about. Yelled a lot of abuse about the nba not wanting ryan Richards before we signed him lol. |

If theyre going to start looking into players betting patterns seriously then theyre opening pandoras box. I don't know what the rules are elsewhere, but if you are a member of Basketball Scotland (not just a player), you are prohibited from gambling on any basketball competition. So, for example, I can't place a bet on any BBL competition.  |

Other sports take this more seriously, Lou Macari was banned by the FA for a year for betting against his own team when he managed Swindon, and MLB banned Pete Rose for life. The life ban was on any involvement in the game, he's not even allowed to work as accredited media at games.

So, for example, I can't place a bet on any BBL competition. I don't believe that's legally enforceable. There is no reason why you can't bet on the NBA is you're the waterboy for Falkirk Fury?. Neither is it enforceable practically, how would they know if you laid a ton on Mavs to win it all?

Off topic, but I saw Pete Rose when I was in Las Vegas... signing memorabilia for as little as $40 in a shop window... with no remotely interested (when I passed by at least). Shame when you see a great sportsman end up like that. Anyway... |
