I'm sure someone will come on here and say what a poor signing it is and he's not good enough for European competition & it shows how poor LIons & the BBL are.
But me, I'm quite happy with this signing!!

There you go Pat, Happy to help, I Personally think Dirk is a pretty decent pick up for Lions, a guy who’s capable of taking the game by the scruff of its neck and turn it the way he wants. A very athletic guy with plenty of top performances behind him.

Decent pickup however not convinced he will be as successful as people think under Vince. Time will tell.

Decent pickup however not convinced he will be as successful as people think under Vince. Time will tell. Successful where? BBL or Europe? Because you have to think with the money behind the club now that BBL should be easier than ever for them to win? Lions have to be big favourites for all the domestic stuff at least?

So what is the goal here with this signing and the wife beater Liggins? Clearly not to win the BCL which they won't. If it is to demonstrate the strength of the Lions and promise of the BBL, it clearly fails because hiring busted AMERICAN players won't provide any cred to British basketball. As an American, it just shows how desperate the Lions and the BBL are for attention. Dan Clark, Joel Freeland, Pops Bonsu, Luol Deng, where are they? Signing them at least shows that the intent is real. Other than that, just window dressing with busted American players.
Now onto the more serious part. Sep 15 is just over a month and a half away. What is the player budget granted by 777 Partners? Have they even made an announcement or public statement? NO.
Given the resurgence of the virus in Europe, there will be no games there and there will be no fans in the arenas here in the odd chance basketball is back. Who would come and PAY to risk catching Covid?
What I've learned about British sports (soccer and basketball) is that the Brits are happy to outsource the playing, winning and coaching, and just enjoy the good ole colonial days of letting others do the work while singing old American songs (Sweet Caroline, You'll Never Walk Alone and Swing Low Sweet Chariot, are American!) Top soccer club in the UK is Liverpool, owned by American, coached by a German. Other top teams in the UK are all owned by foreigners. The mighty empire needs to finally produce and promote its own for a change? Get it together people!
Lions will not play a game in the BCL and the BBL will not start this season. Fact.

All these signings and no games to play ... it will be interesting to see who's left when Lions do actually start a game.

I wouldn't expect any sports club owners to announce what their player budget was to the outside world?
Why would they do that?

Lions still advertising last season season tickets on their website and single match tickets for last March so not exactly trying to cash in on the signings they are making

It seems Dunkster is desperate to create an argument & make himself look stupid! He's clearly at least succeeding with the 2nd part!

Not trying to create an argument, just stating the obvious.....WHERE ARE THE TOP QUALITY BRITISH SIGNINGS AND WHY DO THEY KEEP ANNOUNCING BUSTED AMERICAN PLAYERS!! Heck, Ovie was not great but good enough to have on the roster, where is that guy MBA? At least none of them are wife beaters!

Again, stop signing busted American players and perhaps the league will be taken seriously by people with actual basketball IQ.
