Andy Thomson has announced his retirement: andrewthomson1984.simplesite.com/I am sure many on this site will join me in congratulating him on a very fine career. A true role model for many. Thanks, Andy.

One of the most effective players in the league for many years - as evidenced by his medal haul wherever he played. Certainly played a key role in Newcastle’s success when he was with the Eagles.

Good luck Andy in whatever you do.
Thanks for the memories you left us with, and hope we'll see you at the Morningside again, once this Covid virus is beaten.

I wasn't expecting that at all
What a great retirement speech that is though. Heartfelt and very thoughtful.
I wish him and his family every success for the future.

Daniel Routledge @dan_routledge · 9h A remarkable career, one of the most successful of all-time in @bblofficial - 20 trophies, a stunning 15-2 record in finals including 7-0 in PO Finals, by far the best undefeated record. Most staggering, an average of 2.22 trophies per season, best of anyone who played 5+ seasons

Surely a testimonial is due once all this nonsense is over.

Surprised he's not continuing for one more season. His article outlining why he's chosen to leave now is positive and I want to wish him well for the future and thank him for his great service to Riders.

Surely a testimonial is due once all this nonsense is over. Riders Vs Eagles sounds good to me, he could play a half for each team, Riders in the second half so he can drop a game winning 3......

A player i hated for the soul reason he was very good. You dont just get lucky to be on winning teams. Always a class player and seemed to sacrifice himself for whatever team he was on. Hopefully the next gen of british players can match the standards thomson, achara and defoe (i know he is still playing) have for many years

I've liked those 2 comments because you know you're good when people dislike you for being good. It's why IRF hates me
