I like Surrey, always have done, but it appears that they are largely recreating last years roster.
People might rave about Tayo and Skyler White etc. but Scorchers were all set last season to occupy their traditional position closer to the foot of the table than the top.
And that was when they boasted players of the ilk of Richards and MBA, not someone who has fluctuated between the BBL & NBL.
Respect for Surrey's setup but, as the saying goes, if you do what you've always done you get what you've always got...

As the saying goes, “ you can’t please everyone”. They are trying something different with their imports. No wet behind the ears College kids this season. Get Taylor back from Lithuania and they will be better. Love it.

Respect for Surrey's setup but, as the saying goes, if you do what you've always done you get what you've always got... I think that's pretty unfair... In recent years Scorchers have largely recruited rookie players and tried to build a team around Tayo. At the end of the year the squad all left and we started again with another group of rookies. There is a noticeable change this year with the bringing back the successes of last year and adding experienced BBL players to the squad. It is quite exciting to see players with an actual track record joining rather than having to get behind some unheard of US imports who are naturally pretty hit and miss. I don't think we will win the league but I do expect us to be much more competitive than we were last year. Richards and MBA were both very opportunistic signings who played only a handful of games.

Tony Hicks or Quincy Taylor - doesn't matter which one. They were both at Surrey during the glory years...

Hassan has been the best low post scorer in the league for a long time, add the best above the rim player for a long time and they look very good!

Trayvonn looked fairly average when he played for Storm at the end of 18-19 season. No idea what he was doing last year but I hope it was considerably better than what he was doing in Hemel.
