Interesting to hear... although with the game now 24 hours away I hope those 'advanced discussions' really are advanced. Time is running out. Mark Woods has been wrong about TV coverage before though too.

Currently just a recap of the women’s cricket is scheduled on the red button. Presume that can easily be shunted, it’s just a repeat of what’s on BBC2 tonight anyway

Great news. I agree it's unlikely to pick up many new fans (but would anywhere in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon?) but I'm really pleased to have confirmation we can watch it.

The picture quality was superb.
Such a shame that a great opportunity was blown.
Had they progressed, Thursdays match would also have received BBC coverage.

The picture quality was superb. Such a shame that a great opportunity was blown. Had they progressed, Thursdays match would also have received BBC coverage. A 'blown opportunity' is a bit harsh. Lions came closer to doing something no other BBL team have done in about 20 years, with admittedly the same eventual result. And what's to say the BBC won't be interested in the FIBA Europe Cup games in from January? It's minimal effort for the BBC. All they did yesterday was take a live feed of coverage being produced locally in Bulgaria by the host team, that the BBL had dubbed Dan & Nigel's commentary over (presumably being done at BBL HQ in Leicester). No involvement needed from the BBC other than receiving the feed from the BBL and distribution on their platforms (iPlayer and BBC Sport website/app). And in return they get to boast further diversity in their sports offering to the license fee payers. Therefore if the idea is sold to them right by Vince/the BBL there's no reason they won't be interested in Lions Europe Cup games too.

Riders came very close to beating Szolnoki Olaj in both meetings a few seasons ago, with a roster that was surely assembled at a fraction of the cost. Would Neptunas typically be stronger than Olaj? Yes. But is this particular Neptunas team stronger? Not so sure. If the BBC was interested enough to stream yesterday's game I imagine there's a decent chance they'll do the same with Lions' Europe Cup games. With an increasingly dark cloud hanging over the BBL season, what Lions are actually going to do with this team in the interim seems the more pressing issue.

I know who Dan is but who is Nigel? Nigel Lloyd - Commentated alongside Dan last night, former Lions head coach and player.

My comment was based on Lions coming very close to winning a Basketball Champions League qualifying game... Leicester Riders didn't do that, they came very close to winning a FIBA Europe Cup game. So Lions achievement was greater, in my opinion. Completely accept we could debate that further based on some of the points you've made though. Yes, I think a more immediate question is whether Lions new owners would fund a team that potentially might only play in the FIBA Europe Cup this season (which is already being discussed on another thread).

With all of Europe struggling with Covid you obviously have to question whether that comp will go ahead More questions than answers for Lions and their owners right now At least 3 months before their next competitive game. Do they stay together and play friendlies or do they send everyone home? Still can't get my head around new owners taking on a basketball club in the midst of Covid
