Riders didn't cut him. He asked to be released as he had a realistic chance of being drafted.
In the circumstances it would have been wrong to have not allowed him to take the opportunity.

In general usage, and particularly sports, the team 'Cut' implies that the player has effectively been dismissed by the team, which is not the case here. The club and player mutually agreed to end his contract.
For Rider to have signed a player with a genuine chance of making it to the NBA puts a lot of Credit on Rob P and Kevin R to attract such a talented player to the Riders & BBL.

It’s Jonah Matthews ( Google again)
Seems a long way off making it though - did anyone here see him play, or workout?

He not making the nba, he took a deal and now thinks he can get more money elsewhere. Majority of players who are cut have the mutually agreed tag line

The inevitable happened of course- MBA has gone already.
Bristol to follow.
The dynamics with J would not have allowed this to happen this season without massive beef J quite rightly gets his way (he’s the MVP and big dawg in the league) - will return for next game after not playing last couple

Disappointing, I was really intrigued to see if mullens and MBA could find some chemistry and become engaged defensively, would have been unstoppable at BBL level and exciting for GB

Whilst I'm disappointed (he was the missing piece of the jigsaw for me), it's not a major surprise that someone who was signed late, who would definitely have blown the BBL salary cap, so was therefore likely to only play in Europe, has left as Lions don't have any European games until January. Yes, perhaps he did have a falling out with someone but that's not earth shattering news either.

If it is 'J' then, then maybe the rumours are true... weird that they supposedly have a great relationship personally, just not on the court.

I don't quite follow why Justin should be the reason for this. There's plenty of strong characters in the dressing room, from coaches to players including Matthew, so if there has been a fall out, then there's no reason it has to be Justin.

Yeah, but DTB said it was Justin's fault.... Au contraire- J was not at fault. I think we all know MBA can be a but ‘demanding’ -a diva almost. That’s part of the reason we love him as a guy tbh. His pay didn’t go into his account - he kicked off and it all went pair shaped from there. J and MBA are obvs tight but like family there are tensions. Nothing sinister just a fall out of sorts - both are professionals but have different ways of dealing wid things. MBA if dicked around will kick off , J is more chilled. It was obvious changes would take place after Europe - this just a little earlier than predicted
