Hopefully this will mean that clubs will not go bust. Watching live is a lot better than streaming imo especially after last seasons joke streams. They'd have made you seasick if you watched a full game.

Indeed just making the point that money is doled out to support a league that will pay 4 imports but SFA is given to promote or develop the sport at grass routes level. What would develop the game more?

What would develop the game more? thats not true though about SFA though is it - outwith covid times, there are multiple grant paths available to grass root sports to develop their games more. We might all wish there was more, we might all wish sportengland, sportscotland, sportwales, basketballengland, basketballscotland, welsh basketball spent the money in different ways or different amounts, but fairly sure you will find the sums they invest into grass routes level dwarfs what they have given to both BBL and GB Basketball over the years. We will all have many things we are unhappy about the programs they fund and if they are the best use of the funding for grass rooot sport but that is a different argument. and so it should dwarf it - as you say that is how to develop the game more, a strong base - but it also needs a stable peak so the top needs a level of support as well as the base even in covid - grass root has not been forgotten. there have been specific funds announced by all the sportengland/wales/scotland to support the governing bodies and support where they can clubs.

I signed the petition although I did have to question it.
£1m would never be enough to fund a season of behind closed doors basketball
And the petition did not make it clear what the money was going to be used for
I'm not sure whoever started the petition worded it well or had thought it out properly but regardless they clearly wanted to do something for the right reasons
At some stage some real leadership will be needed to deal with the varying issues basketball in UK is going to face ongoing
Grassroots, Community Basketball and Elite will all need some longer term plans for sure
And also both Eagles and Riders will need to continue to explore what support is available short term and long term re their Arenas of course which will be as far away as ever now from getting events back in there to pay some of the bills that they normally pay

Anyone with common sense would have put the brakes on hiring and bringing people over until more clarity. And they may have pulled a rabbit out of the hat. THIS TIME........ However, the fact that they will audaciously go ahead playing indoors when there is no real demand will come back to bite them when they need to ramp up once the pandemic is over.........and then there will be no bailouts but memories of the SEVERAL times the government had to bailout British basketball before!

As in 1?
Hell of a prediction from someone whose every prediction has been wrong so far.

That will be USA where multi-millionaires and billionaires screw major cities for every cent they can get out of them and threatening to relocate if they don't get that 'bailout'. I never forget the first time I was in Houston and in the tax part of my hotel bill was a line - stadium tax. I asked what it was. Turned out every hotel stay was making a contribution to the bill for having built the Toyota as well as NRG and Minute Maid through a compulsory tax on the bills. Couple of years later that tax line on the bill went up - as we (all hotel stays in the area) were now paying towards the BBVA/Compass as well. The owners in USA are grabbing 'bailouts' from local government in normal times - what we are seeing in UK is owners looking for bailouts from national government in unusual times to cope with consequences of actions taken by that UK government.

I figured you'd have commented on this weekend's basketball by now. Didn't fit the narrative, eh?

11500+ signatures and the map tells us where they live - all expected BBL team areas except London, and surprise concentrations in Oxford, Brighton and South Wales. Take note BBL !

Still no word from Drunkster. It seems he's unwilling to acknowledge basketball is being played.
