I'm still trying to get my head round whether BBL shrewdly knew if they brought a load of players over and pretended they could have a normal season they would get a Govt bailout last minute to pay everyone's wages and allow behind closed doors basketball
Or whether they were incredibly naive but got lucky.
I guess the end result doesn't matter and either way they've pulled a blinder off here
Meanwhile Ice hockey didn't even consider this could be possible and suspended everything til next year

I just clicked with it. Ron Scott Gareth from wherever Yeoman Dunkster Embarrassingly transparent. (For those who don’t know Ron is an american fantasist who 15 years ago announced a league to go against the bbl, which 15 years on, has yet to play a game. He didn’t have any teams or a plan but was an inveterate name dropper who has accomplished the square root of nothing in a decade and a half. He has stamina, I’ll agree. But he’s not even a busted flush because he never even had a flush in the first place). Don’t think so Dude, I’m my own man. Had to look the Ron Scott guy up and could only find a website that doesn’t say much and some past articles. And if what you say is that this guy has been trying to get something off the ground that long, good on him as it’s not like the BBL has been setting the world on fire in that timeframe. And the HEAVY reliance on busted American has been players that couldn’t even beat Neptune to qualify for the BCL tells anyone that KNOWS basketball what state the game is here. It’s probably a good idea that the BBL begs for government money on the basis that it does so much for the community of black and minorities because on the merits of basketball, it’s comes up short. Very short! |

Just because BBL didn’t cancel it’s season doesn’t mean it should get a bailout. I would argue that hockey and netball were savvy enough not to wait until the this point to cancel where the BBL is just playing some type of game around its importance to black and minorities. If the BBL gets money, there are a lot of other sports that are far more deserving. Dude, come correct and don’t insult my intelligence. Can you elaborate on what games the BBL may have played in relation to ‘black and minorities.’ Still didn’t answer this dude |

Playing the race card is not cool, especially when there are really no BAME running the BBL or the governing bodies. Also the whole BLM has gotten way to politics and decisive. Black AND All lives matter especially so in basketball. |

Can't imagine will be on Sky One of the biggest reasons for streaming games by the club's must be to avoid refunding season ticket holders Although I'm sure some may still want refunds Some will also see their season ticket purchase as a form of donation to help the club of course For that reason I think the streaming cost may need to be more expensive than you might normally expect to make season ticket holders feel they are getting value for their investment Having said all that I imagine season ticket sales will have been comparatively low We also have fans from last season who were due some FOC games this season of course to factor in I think streaming for a lot of sports will be about protecting monies they've already had and potentially spent as much as it's about new income for the season And obviously about trying to keep a fan interest in the sport at same time |

Last years games were on YouTube for free even though there were season ticket holders
I’d imagine one approach to consider would be to defer any paid season ticket holders access for a season so they can approach streaming more freely to ensure maximum exposure 👍

I've heard absolutely nothing about the BBL being on Sky this season, beyond a throwaway comment by one individual on here, so I don't believe it's true. Neither do I think it's very likely.
The latest press release from the BBL stated - "The games will be played behind closed doors but streaming packages will be available for fans to follow their teams."
Maybe I'm reading too much into that comment, but to me that sounds like fans will be able to purchase season passes for individual teams - a sort of virtual season ticket. Alongside individual game passes I would imagine. And presumably those season passes would be offered to season ticket holders at no additional cost until they're allowed to return to arenas.
I might be in the minority, but if this is correct I'd be someone who wouldn't normally have purchased a regular season ticket (mainly due to family commitments and it being a 4 hour round trip for each game) but would purchase a virtual season ticket this season. Fortunately my financial situation hasn't changed because of the pandemic, and I'm not going out socialising like I normally would, so what else have I got to spend my money and time on right now? I'd be happy to support my team and have some basketball to watch at home on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Maybe there are others like me.

Having paid for my Riders season tickets, i hope they won't be using this money to effectively frank me being provided with a stream of the games. With respect this is not what I paid for. At the time watching live games was still a real possibility albeit on a much reduced capacity, and likelihood of ballots for tickets.
If i want the streams (which would need to be much better than the youtube efforts from last season) then i should be given the option to pay or not.
Clubs have been bailed out for the season, but fans still expected to pay?
