Having paid for my Riders season tickets, i hope they won't be using this money to effectively frank me being provided with a stream of the games. With respect this is not what I paid for. At the time watching live games was still a real possibility albeit on a much reduced capacity, and likelihood of ballots for tickets. If i want the streams (which would need to be much better than the youtube efforts from last season) then i should be given the option to pay or not. Clubs have been bailed out for the season, but fans still expected to pay? I agree with you season ticket holders should be given a choice in the matter My point is with other sports the choice included not having the live streams and getting a refund But hence why the live streams will need a decent cost on them to make them seem worthwhile having

Whilst I understand the talk of wanting better quality streaming coverage, especially if we're going to be paying for it this season, is now really the time to be campaigning for it?
I want the BBL to return. I want to be able to watch the BBL. And I want to support the BBL through these challenging times. As long as the streams are reliable, I'd be happy to pay for the level of coverage we got on YouTube last season. If that's all that can be provided right now surely we should be content with that... it's better than what we've currently got - nothing at all.

"Season passes will cost €50, while a game pass is €4 and they will be available to purchase through your chosen club, with all profits going to the club. Purchasing a season pass will also allow you to watch any team streaming via Joymo, both live and on-demand, with over 200 matches set to be streamed this season."
Sounds very reasonable to me. I'd really like to see the BBL launch something similar.

At that price they certainly couldn't be used as reasonable alternatives to refunds for season ticket holders who have already paid to watch matches live. I kind of think the BBL Clubs will have more to lose from having to refund season ticket money than they have to gain from non season ticket holders paying to livestream their games this season Hence why the pricing on any livestream may need to be a balancing act

And surely that would include season tickets too. So I don't see why they couldn't fully refund season ticket holders and consider any streaming revenue as a separate entity (although they may need to deduct it from their 'claim').

From what I've seen of other sports clubs they try to give a few choices and options but always do include refunds as the final option Leicester City Football Club last season one of the options was to donate what would have been refunded to the late chairman's charity foundation for example Forest football club you had the option of home AND away games live streamed FOC instead of refund for missing home season ticket games You could also donate to the foundation with them as well The payable cost for each live stream for the Forest games was £10 per match

In almost all cases when football clubs are offering a live streaming option it is for a multi camera well produced service, with multiple camera angles, replays and presenters giving information and analysis around the game, a single camera feed will not encourage people to watch. This season there was live streamed coverage of the county cricket season, in every case there were multiple camera actions and professional presentation and commentary. Are BBL clubs really in a position to offer even a basic level of professional presentation?

I've watched many games on the various streams the last few years and its far better than not being able to watch at all I'm not going to insist on all of the above myself Just want it to work on the day

It was a decent standard of presention without costing us a fortune. How many times we can do that relying mainly on volunteers is a question i can't answer

Certainly from my experience of watching Eagles streams it captures pretty much everything. I would forego a professional setup at this time bearing in mind the precarious position we find ourselves in at the moment.

This season there was live streamed coverage of the county cricket season, in every case there were multiple camera actions and professional presentation and commentary. Are BBL clubs really in a position to offer even a basic level of professional presentation? when you say "in almost all cases" I take it you are talking about clubs that have home gates of 5000 and more, players getting paid £50k and more and in a lot of cases already had subscription tv services in place pre covid - so not really an apples to apples comparison to BBL clubs. Having said that, if the colour balance could be resolved that was seen on a number of the free youtube games BBL had last season, tweak the score display problems that appeared a few times, then I think they have a good base in place already and if priced right there is a fan base at many clubs ready to support live streamed in a realisation the DCMS have backtracked and live in the venue is just so far in the future for now. The D1 tournament that got underway last weekend - those were very watchable from a streaming standard, tracking the movement in the game, commentary standard and keeping fans engaged when attendance is not allowed. A good base to show it can be done Back to a more realistic compare perhaps in football - championship (2nd tier) clubs in Scotland got under way in the last 2weeks and are having to live stream. Single cameras in place, had to build new sites for collecting payments and conbasketball kiting access plus come up with commentary teams. The club I support on 1st game had technical issues and had to throw it open for free on youtube and refund all those who had paid and take a lot of flack cause 2 of the 4 goals in the game were missed by the camera!! The 2nd game was this midweek and there was praise cause the technical issues were resolved plus at half time there were some replays - note ONLY at half time. Nothing during the 90minutes of the game. Team I support averaged 1800 crowds and when you throw in league 1 and league 2 you drop in many cases below 1000 attendance. So that is a more realistic compare in my view - and fans are encouraged and are watching. In weird times, people will adapt their expectations - no one is expecting a multi camera instant replay like the top tiers of football and cricket that have broadcast deals, the standard for the GB games at ECA would be nice, but we have seen before in BBL and also D1 that a watchable live stream can be done without all that extra cost and technical setup needs.

I thought if anything the trophy games from the weekend would have been better with a single camera, every time they switched it got harder to see what was going on, I’m not a fan of any team so I wouldn’t pay to watch single games but I’d pay for a subscription where I could watch all BBL games from that 1 angle

Well let's see what happens Maybe the clubs will be flush with money. Maybe not I don't think anyone has ever said, or thinks for one second, clubs will be flush with money this season. All I said was that the government funding should compensate for lost ticket revenue and season ticket refunds. Maybe. But if clubs can offer alternatives that some season ticket holders are happy with then they are surely wise to do so. Depends how specific the Govt are on what the money is being given to them for I guess. Every penny should count.

We don't know the details of the government deal, so this is all speculation, but if it covers the cost of all lost ticket revenue then it'd be in the teams/BBLs favour to refund all season ticket holders. Especially if any small profits from streaming packages then doesn't have to be deducted from the money that's being given. But like I said, all speculation.

If the season wasn’t tenable just cancel it. Furlough the few employees and support Riders and Eagles re their complex’s. Nah pay them off. Still would have been a cheaper option. As much as I enjoy the bbl the impact on GB basketball would be negligible. Government buying as many votes as possible?
