6' 10" Centre Emonde Rickman from Indiana State and one season in Portugal.
Appears to be athletic and a good shot blocker. I think he's been brought in as more of a role player (and Trayvon replacement) and defensive presence. A fairly uninspiring college career but made some progress in his one year as a pro. Will likely lead the league in Free Throw percentage (if you sort backwards!).
As a part to the puzzle he could be a good signing. Never played big minutes in college even as a starter, but I don't think Creon plans to do that anyway. The raw materials appear to be there to make an impact. You have to sometimes take a chance on big men and it looks like his style may be suited to the BBL. Scorchers roster means they aren't dependent on him, so if he gets in foul trouble it's okay. If it comes off that gives Surrey something different and effective.
Having looked at some of his highlights (and that obviously accentuates the good) I like what he offers. I can see Joel Freeland looking forward to work with him.
The option it gives to play Hasan at the 4 alongside a big man is a big bonus as well.

Looks like a very weak signing to me. Portugal top flight is lower than bbl and he couldn't average 10 ppg there

Looks like a very weak signing to me. Portugal top flight is lower than bbl and he couldn't average 10 ppg there Depends what they need. They certainly don't need 10ppg. The Scorchers are stacked with scorers. Three of the BBL top 8 from last season plus two more averaging 15+ ppg. Also three of the BBL top 8 defensive rebounders. I've said before it doesn't make them a great rebounding team, but the likely main five can all get boards. Covering the 2, 3 and 4 they are also stacked. There isn't a true centre though. They don't need point production there. They don't need (but wouldn't mind of course) a dominant rebounder. They are getting a big athletic body who can block. Kervin Bristol doesn't hit you on stats, but offers a lot of the intangibles. The Scorchers aren't getting a Bristol, but they'd like some of his attributes. I think Creon wants a Centre whose strength is role playing. The downside of MBA is that you need to play through him. In terms of fit, Rickman ticks the boxes. Whether he is good enough is to be seen. I think the Scorchers have struggled to recruit imports (as a group) that can score and that puts pressure on the rest of the team. If this team needs Rickman to be a scorer, then there are big problems. I expect a large number of his points to be dunks. I expect the odd set play in the low post to back down his defender with the knowledge the Scorchers have some players out sizing their defenders to hit the offensive boards. I don't think he has the passing skills to hit the cutters or finding open men on the perimeter (he won't be double teamed anyway). I like the fact he's not a scorer as it suggests he must have some attributes. His low minutes as primarily a starter in his senior year are a red flag. But basically Indiana State played four guards and he shared the big man role with two others, which partly explains it.

Anyone heard anymore news on Trayvonn Wright? Is he out for the season or are Scorchers hoping he will be back to play some part?

Anyone heard anymore news on Trayvonn Wright? Is he out for the season or are Scorchers hoping he will be back to play some part? Perhaps partly answered by how many work permits have been issued. I'd assume Rickman and Cashaw certainly need one. Cook I assume also. Unless Hasan or Wright himself are classified non-import then I'm guessing Rickman is a direct replacement for Trayvonn.

That is a shame. That would leave a 9 man roster with probably 2-3 academy players on the bench. That seems to be the way Creon has gone the last couple of seasons.
