Meanwhile... getting back on topic...I can exclusively reveal the 3rd BBL game to be broadcast on Sky Sports will be London Lions v Plymouth Raiders on Friday 11th December 19:00-21:30 on Sky Sports Arena. You heard it here first. It'll be announced by Sky and the BBL within the next few days. Is this game also being shown on BBL player or Sky only? All games that are live on Sky will also be live on BBL Player but will use different coverage.

To be fair the BBC Sport website did have BBL news when the BBL was on the BBC. Sky Sports didn't. Now that the BBL is on Sky I'd expect some BBL news on the Sky Sports website. It's only the same thing. Well, sort of. The BBC Sport website has about 10x the traffic the Sky Sports website does.

Sky coverage will include pre and post game analysis, with a multi-camera set up & action replays, and better on screen graphics and stats. BBL Player (free this weekend to registered users) will just feature Keemotion coverage with basic onscreen graphics.

The BBC should have a British basketball correspondent.

The first game looks great.
SKY just know how to present sports. I think it instantly gives the league validity and to be taken seriously. I think the SKY presentation is head and shoulders above any YouTube/club streaming offerings.
My only gripe and this goes back to the SKY days in the ‘90’s is they’ve got to stop showing replays when the ball is in play. Plenty of short stoppages to show replays.
One more thing I’d like to see them do is have the players national flag next to their name (like they do in the premiership) in the team list and starting 5. I think this would help fans identify with the players more.

Fantastic coverage overall, obviously not expecting a wave of new fans overnight but that was the kind of game that will encourage people to watch again, free flowing and hitting lots of shots, I cringe a bit when there’s air balls every few minutes as I think that’s the kind of thing to put people off but credit to both teams and to the production company who all did their part in making the opener a good advert for the sport

This is by far the best coverage I've seen of the BBL on any platform in the few years I've been following it. No question Sky has spent more on the production than anything before too, which is largely the reason why. But there definitely feels like more of an effort to present a product, whereas BBC, for example, were just showing some pure sport. Let's hope Sky continue to cherry-pick good fixtures too, unlike BBC who used to have just whatever fit the time slot.
I'll look to watch more games regardless of my team being involved, based on how this presentation made it interesting for a neutral.

Good, competitive game until Nix pulled away in the last 5 mins. BBL got to be happy with that. Well done Nix.

Terrific coverage, varied, slick, Paternostro incisive, great graphics. So good. My last Sky Sports renewal was at just £15 pmth incl HiDef - marvellous VFM, considering all the other sports RL, NFL, NBA, Boxing etc. Coverage from the top drawer

Hopefully they'll learn that from tonight, there isn't much else they need to put right. And if they don't, I might just have to second-screen and look away to the Keymotion live game footage (assuming it's in sync) during replays.

I have to pull back a little on my earlier praise - sort out the replays. At one point there was even a replay of a replay ( Fletcher for three), as we missed a Robinson three But sort that out and it's a ten from me

They do that to all sports so I wouldn't hold out much hope. It is annoying though.

brilliant to see british basketball on screen in great picture quality again - and throw in a strong commentary crew, great analysis team and the pre game extras and post game interviews. on the replays - at least Dan was commentating on the game and we knew Justin had hit the 3 while we watched the previous play again
thumbs up from this viewer - well done all involved. looking forward to next game on 11th dec
bonus - as hospitality all shutdown here for another 8 days minimum, was a housebound birthday with a take away and at least got to watch some bball as entertainment

Agree about wasting time showing replays in a close game - not as if basketball doesn't have lots of stoppages to allow replays then, e.g. while someone's stepping up to shoot free throws.

Sky Sports Update...
This week's live game is London Lions v Plymouth Raiders @ the Copper Box.
The game will be live on Sky Sports Arena on Friday at 7pm.
And for those with Sky, but without a Sky Sports subscription, there's a full replay on Saturday at 7pm on Sky Sports Mix (free to all Sky subscribers).
Also for those without Sky, the game will also be streamed live for free on the Sky Sports YouTube channel on Friday from 7pm.

You cannot knock that can you. I finally got around to watching last weeks game on catch up and was impressed with the coverage. I'm sure when they get more familiar the replays will improve. Maybe not perfect but good enough. Must be strange for a lot of the players and coaches doing the TV commitments. A nice kind of strange I'm sure. With crowds back the product will look even better on TV.

In other Sky Sports news, Sky Sports Arena temporarily becomes Sky Sports Darts from next week. I mention this because it means the BBL coverage is therefore moving to Sky Sports Mix, which doesn’t require a Sky Sports subscription.

You would think that with them showing it weekly, that they’d also send out final score alerts/Mach report on their app.
