As a rookie, I would be interested to hear people's opinions about BBL venues. What are the best venues, worst venues etc? I know there is a venues page. I have read through that. Are there any NBL clubs with BBL standard venues. Our venues are pretty modest compared to those in Europe, except Copperbox.

Have to agree about the overall experience at the Pavilions being great - it’s a theatre, so the seating is comfortable and the facilities are decent (not so sure the visiting players like the court though). The Morningside is a good venue, comfortable seating with plenty of leg room (decent food also). Sheffield, Surrey and Bristol all have similar set ups with a single side of bleachers, although the Bristol fans are the loudest, by far (so much noise for only 600 or so capacity) - great atmosphere there. Copper box is a large venue, but always feels empty to me for BBL fixtures - not the greatest atmosphere as a result. Cheshire have two sides of bleachers, but be warned, they are not comfortable seats! Worcester is a good modern arena and it is regularly a sell out, so the atmosphere is usually great (even when the Wolves stank the place out for most of the 2018/19 season)..
As for the worst venues, last season we had the Giants playing at George H Carnall Leisure Centre (it was very poor) and Royals played out of a very tired Crystal Palace. Manchester’s new home should be worth a visit though.
I haven’t been to Glasgow or Newcastle yet, so can’t comment on them - they were on the list for this season, but covid...
If you live in Swindon, you are well placed to go to Bristol and Worcester - neither will disappoint, but I strongly recommend travelling the extra miles to Plymouth, at least once. Guildford not such a trek from there either.

Thanks gmoir. Yes, Swindon is well situated for visiting Worcester, Bristol and Guildford. All great places to visit for the day. Obviously Plymouth is a bit far but I could try to incorporate it into a family holiday. Interesting what you say about Crystal Palace. It is very old but it looks quite nice in pictures.

Just a little reminder of how far the BBL has come in just two years. These were the venues in 2018/19 season.
Newcastle Eagles, Sheffield Sharks and Manchester Giants are all now in much better venues.

Well, viewed from YouTube Ponds Forge looks better than EIS in my opinion. But attending might be a different matter.

Ponds Forge is also the best BBL venue for access, right next to Sheffield station

I liked the fact you are close to the court at Ponds Forge. Just personal preference. Saw GB play an international game there which was first visit.

Viewed from home, the EIS hall looks really small. The stand that the camera is facing is small because there's not much room. The hoops are on arms attached to the wall and there is no space behind the hoops. The players are sometimes tripping over the advert boards and touching the end wall.
Ponds Forge looks like it's a similar standard to the other BBL venues. The stand looks quite big. The hoops are the professional portable type which look better than the wall arm type. There is plenty of room behind the hoops. The colour looks good too, with the blue within the Sharks colour scheme. It looks like it's their venue.
However, EIS is much lighter. Ponds Forge looks really dark on camera. From an armchair spectator perspective the only thing that Ponds Forge could do with is better lighting.
