Has the BBL ever tried to launch their own forum? Imagine the engagement would be higher than this one. Raising site visits and meaning more value. Would you use it if they launched one?

No, bbl is full of people who don't have a clue what basketball really is, more of those would be annoying

I only heard about this site from someone at a game years ago. If there was one attached to the bbl site, anyone that visits the site may take a look at it.

It would be utterly dull. Can you imagine Duncan Smillie's reaction when he was called a goon on an official forum? I've taken plenty of flack over the years for posting on here. People can't take dissenting voices, let along criticism. It's not unique to the BBL, Solent throw a hissy fit if anyone suggests they have a wage bill that blows most D1 clubs out of the water

Would be to much oh the boys done their best (40point blowout) and we need to support them and not allowed to be negative...
Alot of people in the bbl pretend to not take note of what is said on bev. All clubs view it. Back in the day most clubs actually had web links to whatsbev.

Trust me, players, coaches and most others associated with a club read this site.

Yeah. About 6 clubs had a forum of their own, linked from their website. It was one of the first things i did in 2004 when we got the new Leopards going. There were moments i had to bite my fingers, but it did increase interest. But clubs whined, interest died off and it came to an end.

I've spanned two millennia. I think someone told me about it at leopards. I've always promoted bev subtly since i got involved. Bigz is correct in that loads of people high up in clubs read it but won't fess up.

I searched for a British basketball forum earlier in the year when I first got into basketball. Whatsbev was the only thing that came up, but not much was happening then. Then with the London Lions in Europe and the BBL restarting I could see there was a lot more activity on here so I joined. I literally have no real people to talk to about basketball.

An unnamed professional of over 5 years playing in this league across multiple teams treated me like a piece of dirt off his shoe for posting on this page. Id practiced with them for a full summer but didnt sign because I had to go back to uni, everyone else was cool but this guy was a jackass.

Would be to much oh the boys done their best (40point blowout) and we need to support them and not allowed to be negative... Not sure about that, the Eagles Facebook comments after a game can be brutal at times. People were kicking off about our loss on Friday night as if we'd been blown out by 40 for the fourth game in a row!

That way he could put on the pretence that most people dont think he is an arsehole.

As a huge basketball fan but only casual BBL fan WB often feels like a BBL forum already to me......

I’m sure what’s Bev got a link in the match programmes when eagles played at the Newcastle Arena, that and the Pawprint website anyone remember that?

Must clarify. I would continue to use this forum. I’m on about a BBL run and moderated forum. I’m just surprised they haven’t even attempted it. Even as many people say, it will be full of the happy clappers that never get frustrated with poor results because “they tried their best” or “stop being negative, players are on here and will see this” (one of the recent ones from the supporters group on fb)

What's Bev is a forum from the top drawer, as others have already alluded to, an official forum would be an oxymoron

As has been pointed out elsewhere, the BBL teams don't even have comments turned on for the YouTube games. They don't want to hear anything negative so they'd never have a forum. People would be constantly blocked!!

As has been said previously, the people in and around British Basketball and that includes the players, are incredibly thin skinned. An official BBL run message board would very soon have only have about a dozen posters as anyone who is mildly critical would be banned very quickly.
