Been announced that sports venues will be allowed to host fans again from December 2nd, day before season starts
50% of capacity. Although it’s limited to 1000 if you’re in a tier 2 area, tier 1 and the limit is 2000 fans

Presumably a lot lower for Basketball given will need to ensure social distancing? Hopefully a positive move though.
Interesting point - does it give those teams who are allowed fans in attendance an unfair advantage? (Tier 3 fans will not be allowed)

As has been said, with some arenas despite the maximum being 1,000 or 2,000 fans they'll never achieve close to that because of the social distancing that'll need to be in place. But with others (best examples being the Copper Box and Emmirates arena I guess) it'll be easily achievable. I'm also expecting more areas than ever before to be in Tier 3, which still prevents any fans attending. So we'll have a weird mix of some games being attended by 2,000 fans and others being attended by zero, all in the same weekend. Certainly a step in the right direction though, will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Newcastle is predicted to be in Tier 3 by then so no fans for the first broadcast games if that's the case. Looks like that won't be confirmed til Thur.

This is fantastic news. Better than I expected. But realistically it'll probably only be Copperbox that can get more than a few hundred spectators in.

(Tier 3 fans will not be allowed) But I thought is says 50% capacity, doesn't matter what sport, if it holds 1000 you'll have 500 max, surely they can't make a 50% rule then say you have to sit 2 metres away from everyone. There's not an indoor arena anywhere that has seats that far apart! Admittedly I'm just home from work & not really read anything yet so I'm probably wrong

Scotland will remain a fan free zone indoors until I believe our L1 if not even L0 - will need to double check the protection level document, but certainly not going to be any fans indoor in scotland in 2020 and I would be surprised if there is before Easter 2021

Apparently it has now been clarified that it is a max of 1000 or 50% in tiers 1 & 2.

Leicester’s figures are through the roof AGAIN so I won’t hold my breath over visiting the Arena any time soon. Why can’t people just follow the ****ing rules.

And London is rumoured to be in Tier 3 once we come out of this second lockdown... so actually zero spectators in the Copper Box (initially) if that's correct!

Bit harsh on say Newcastle or Riders if not

It doesn't really matter. If a team wins it'll be because of what they do when playing. I think fans play a part to an extent but not enough to make a difference to the result and that's what annoys me about sport, coaches and players only like having fans when the team wins but when their team is losing the fans get blamed.

Yes I agree- it’s familiarity with court and hoops and lack of travel which is the main thing
