Hoping Surrey don't draw Sharks into a 1 on 1 contest - that might favour Richards and White. Glad it's not Sharks on the wrong end of the back to back.

One on one this is hands down a easy win for the scorchers. The only way sharks can win this encounter is an increased assist count. Some decent heart shown from Surrey tonight

What an absolute ****ing arse kicking that was! Wow, when was the last time we beat anyone by 44 points!?
Really like the look of Hensley, certainly seems an upgrade on McKnight, but time will tell if thats an accurate assessment.
Still think we need to replace Nichol if we hope to win anything.

If there isn't a line outside the job centre tomorrow I'll be surprised

A massive win for the Sharks and hopefully a big confidence boost. In thinking how we build on this and make these types of performances more consistent worth looking at the stats in a bit more detail. Shot 54% from 3 Baldwin was leading assist maker with 2 In a 105 point performance, Nichols, Marsden, Jones and Tuck combined for 10 points

Shocking display from Scorchers. I’m an eternal optimist but this season has looked so incredibly disjointed.
There is talent in the squad but something isn’t right here.

Sorry if I’m being too direct or harsh but in my view, the Scorchers need some serious changes.
I would start changing the leadership of the team. First the coach. The team is underperforming for quite a few years. Players (not only this season) don’t seem to be giving 100%, the defense is a shambles and there is no cohesion in the offence. I never had the impression in all the games I watched that the team has a clear strategy on both sides of the court.
Then I would also replace the captain, Tayo. Since I started following the Scorchers, about 2.5 years ago, I see people treating him as if he was a big star. I see a guy with no energy, bad defender, and certainly not a leader or inspiration to other players in the court.
Then there is White and Caylin. Sorry, but they are not good enough. Caylin at least tries hard. White needs to go.
The new big guy, #8. Who hired that guy? Needs to go.
Evan Walshe, IMO, is the only player who is showing why he deserves to be in the team. He works hard in both sides of the court. Look at the effort he puts on the defense. No other player puts the same effort. He also played OK in the offence today. He has a great potential.
For me, the team lacks strong leadership (coach & captain) and strategy and I think both should go.
And if the new players are not pulling their weight on the defense, they should go too.
I do believe the Scorchers can do far more with better leadership inside and outside the court.

Its clear Creon doesn't have the heart to ve a pro coach, constantly letting players come and go to join other teams has turned Surrey into a joke club

Nicholls is not really the answer. He shows flashes but you need your imports to do more than spot duty off the bench. we still need to bring in an athletic forward - 6-6-6-8 Ideally we could then go with a three guard line up and new forward up to with Koch and bring Jones/Tuck/Marsden and a bit of Campbell/Baldwin off the bench. Great performance today and finally we are not playing catch up in a game.

Scorchers desperately need a play maker (PG) and have for a couple of years. A scorer, but someone who can get the ball inside to the Big men. QUICK

Have never understood the policy of ‘we won’t stand in their way if they wish to move on to bigger a better things’ if you are a pro club that is attempting to win things (I am also aware that there are contractual clauses that are in play that can allow a player to move on at short notice), but Surrey seem to be a half-way house for guys to show off their skills in hope that a month later, another team will come knocking, in the BBL or from abroad. That’s how they have snared players such as MBA throughout previous years. Those guys at that point in their career would have had no intention or interest in seeing out the season with the Scorchers and would have required the whole team to have been restructured tactically around them and their strengths, ultimately leaving the club to restructure tactically again when they depart weeks/ months later in the season. I really don’t understand how that can build a cohesive and decent team atmosphere conducive to having any type of long term success over a season or longer. I also agree with the previous post that they’ve underachieved for a while now given the tools and pieces they have.

Scorchers are more talented than last year, but the standard of all the other rosters in the league have improved even more.
They also have too many players who want to score all the time.

Scorchers are more talented than last year, but the standard of all the other rosters in the league have improved even more.
They also have too many players who want to score all the time. Whilst that is true and a valid reason why results may not have improved it doesn't excuse operating without apparent structure and effort. In retrospect the opening match at Worcester revealed more than just opening day issues. An undermanned Wolves team epitomised what the Scorchers should be doing now. The school boy performances (with apologies to school boys) and the lack of hustle, accountability and willingness to operate with the interests of the team. There is a method out of this rut, especially valid when you aren't the most talented team. Focus on defensive assignments and run a structured offence, no free wheeling. Get the D working and it will generate easy baskets within the flow. Don't hide behind the excuse the team isn't built that way. They are fundamental building blocks that any player worth their salt can do. If anybody wants to throw up selfish low percentage shots or slack off on defence, bench them. The buck stops with Creon. He is doing a poor job and needs to get hold of this team. I like Cashaw and would retain him. But he needs to move from the point. Typically I like a scoring PG in the BBL. But this team is crying out for a leader to run the team. A poor man's Alton Byrd.
