Just seen a post from the riders and what a stat this is! 📊 Under Coach Rob Paternostro's guidance, Riders have had a 116-28 record in league play since 2015/16, picked up 13 major trophies.. including 4 league titles & 4 Playoff wins. It did make me wonder what are they classing as a minor trophy? All-stars? COTM

Yeah, we have to count our blessings that we've had him as our coach for so long. Dreading the day he decides to move on.

As Rob is settled in the Leicester area, and has a young family, it is very unlikely that he'd move, unless he was given a significantly better offer.

If Rob was going to leave he would've done it already. He peaked a few years ago and his best opportunity was probably the year they went to Europe or the year after. I imagine he'll spend the rest of his coaching career at the riders and they'll slowly get worse until he calls it a day.
And by slowly get worse I mean wins a trophy a season, probably 2 finals and a top 3 finish. The crap coach wed all want

Rob is undoubtedly the best coach in the BBL now that Fab has left, although I admit Fab was fading in his last couple of seasons. His defence coaching is particularly impressive - not sure of the numbers, but I'll bet Riders let in way less points per game than any other team since Rob began.

My concern if I was a Riders fan would be Rob's kids. If he feels they could get a better education and opportunities back in the USA then a move to coach even in a minor league College could be more attractive. He is a fantastic coach with a great success record and he even speaks the language!
PS, I know nothing about college ball.

Even with limited success at minor league college, I imagine his earning potential could be quite substantial compared to BBL ...but I could be wrong Maybe someone on here who knows what the pay level is like in US College level basketball could enlighten us on it ? (just out of curiousity !!)

It varies massively. Some d3 coaches will be paid very little with a teaching role also expected of them and that will go all the way up to multi million pounds a year. The scope is huge

Rob Paternostro.....he is a monstro.....still remember him tearing it up at the Villa Leisure Centre for the Bullets with Yorrick- we was hard as nails! Love it when Rob comes to the pavilions – he is so animated. Pure entertainment!
