Sun 20th Dec - Phoenix v Eagles 5:00pm Cheshire looked tough against Sharks, should be a great game

Eagles 3rd game in 5 days, Phoenix not played since last weekend. Little bit of a concern on that front from me.
Phoenix did look good against Sharks but have since lost to Flyers & Scorchers. We simply must win if we're to have a competitive season.

Not looking good for Phoenix - Eagles 10 up with Gordon in double figures and that's just Q1 !

How close can you get ? Eagles may have got the win, but they don't half put us through the mill getting there. Too many missed shots especially from the charity stripe. Still, at least Eddie got double figures !

I've got a funny feeling Lull will be an Eagle next season - we usually get our bigs from Cheshire....

Yes, after starting like a runaway freight train we were derailed in the second by good Phoenix D who finally slowed Justin and Evan down. Third we turned the screw on D and had a nice gap going into the last but Cheshire pushed us all the way.
Ice-cool free-throws from the birthday boy and a great defensive stand on the last play of the game and we squirted away with a squeaky bum one but a W is a W no matter how it comes and by what margin and it completed a memorable week.
Not 3 games in 5 days but 4 in 8 to be precise. Great efforts from the aforementioned Birthday Boy and Big Ev but another good all-round team effort that could even afford off nights, by their standards from Rex and Louis. No complaints about their efforts mind and shows what faith Ian and the guys have in Rex that he was sent out for the last defensive play.
Loved Eddie's contribution. So much better and getting better every passing week as he gets strength and stamina back in his legs and game. Remember that he got injured in January last year and didn't come back until October. That's a long time out and he's only just started to hit his straps. 12 points off the bench was an excellent contribution.
Fletch was Fletch and I'm not sure I've seen a smoother player than Cortez. Fletch couldn't get to the basket or knock down his shots the way he'd like but I'll take 9 points and 14 assists from my Captain and PG anytime. Cortez "MADTM" wasn't as close to one as always but still contributed across all facets of the game.
Huge Kudos to the two vets as well. Four games in that short space of time should be illegal for guys their age! Only joking. What they lack for in game time and numbers they more than make up for in advice, guidance, support and knowledge.
Look, I have no idea if this Eagles team is good enough to go on and win things. What I do know is I like their resilience. I love their togetherness and unity and I love that there appears to be no egos. They play for each other and really don't care who does what as long as it results in a W. They are also very exciting to watch and at times too quick for The BBL Player's cameras.
One things for sure they're going to be up and about the honours this season and can only get better and stronger as the season goes on.
Phoenix? I like what I see. Two very dynamic guards that seem to compliment and understand each other. A big that is already looking like one of the finds of the season in Jimbo. Jalen is a great player especially defensively. He's a dangerous scorer too although perhaps not at his best in that respect tonight. Dizzy gives them everything he's got and Mouliom is a solid bench player.
They are perhaps one starting player away from being really, really tough but they'll give many a good game this season and look committed and determined as well as having a lot of character. Ben is a demanding coach, tough but fair and I know he'll strive very hard to get the best out of what he's got. They will always be a tough opponent to play.
Great to see fans in the arena as well and they definitely made themselves heard despite, I'm reliably informed, there only being 170 of them! They may well have gone home disappointed but I'm guessing they enjoyed being in the Arena and watching their team battling so hard.
All-in-all a fascinating and very entertaining watch and the completion of a marvellous week for The Eagles.

I've got a funny feeling Lull will be an Eagle next season - we usually get our bigs from Cheshire.... I do really like the look of Lull, he has a lovely touch under the basket. In Moses & Gettys we've probably got our two best bigs of the last decade from Phoenix, although my thoughts on this would be that Maxwell has more range to his game, which stretches the floor and seriously benefits Fletch, Cortez & Gordon. I also think that for his 7 feet he should be hoovering up a lot more rebounds than the 8.2 per game he has at the moment. For reference Maxwell is averaging 11 and last season CJ 13.2. Of course the BBL works in mysterious ways and should we not be able to keep hold of Maxwell for next season I'd like us to see if CJ has become available first and foremost but we could certainly do a lot worse than Lull.

As Jeff says big shout out to Eddie tonight too who stepped up magnificently and filled the void left by Sayers who struggled in his 7 minutes and spent most of the game sat - not sure if there's a niggling injury there as he stepped up with a great contribution on Friday night.

Give us a break fellas, we sign another good centre, he plays 5 games for us and you're already sniffing around him lining him up for next year!! Put Dave F on the case and get him to find one for yourself. Game tonight was very close, good comeback from us being down a lot at the start, we were one shot away from beating you without two of our main 8 man squad. Thought Maxwell was a very good player watching him in earlier games but outplayed tonight by Jimbo. Darius is getting too slow at setting screens caught tonight on more than one occasion for a moving one( and slowly at that) Great having crowds in the arena, about 100 last week, up to 140 tonight but who knows what the future brings with current issues. Missed seeing Uncle Jeff unless he was one of the assistants underneath all the masks and even Les didn't have his drum!!!

Quite a satisfying win that. There was a point last night where the Eagles were running out of steam where I thought 'ah well, 3 and 1 in 7 days isn't bad'. The players could've settled for that too but dug in and fought for the win, which I feel is such a good sign for the rest of the season to come. It looks like we have the players and most importantly the character to do some good things this season.
Really hope I get to see this Eagles team play in person this season, they are so fun to watch.

Pharaoh contributes a little more. Post Covid illness and a much needed upgrade on the imports Phoenix look decent. However you’re 1-4 and need to turn it round pretty quickly before the season is done. Still lack depth in the roster but Giants, Rocks, Giants, Sharks are your next games so every chance to turn it around.

I don’t think maxwell was outplayed, they both had very good games tbf, good contribution from Eddie which is great to see when others might be having a quieter night, eagles 4th game in a week, think we will Take 4-0 all Day long

Giants squad nothing like last years, looking at their performances and their level of imports plus a couple of locals reappearing on court, they're definitely no pushover.
