We were fully engaged in the game for 40 minutes which is a good step forward. I thought the main difference on the night was that in Washington and Crandall Riders had 2 big shot makers (regardless of the number of turnovers 😉).

So for the positives, to come back from 10 down with under 4 to go when the game looked on ice was really good to see. Ratinho's 3 to draw level with 9 seconds to go looked was cool as you like, no hesitation whatsoever. And finally, overall that was a much better performance then recent outings and we competed tip to buzzer. For the negatives, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Lyons has absolutely no idea how to use a 10 man rotation. Some of our guys were playing musical chairs getting subbed in and out constantly, and it really hurts players performances. How are you supposed to get any sort of momentum and a feel for the game when your in for 2 minutes then back on the bench!? This needs reducing to 8 players immediately. Jones needs to stay on the practice floor, and I'd alternate Marsden and Tuck on a game by game basis. Look at the minutes spread, Koch, Marsden and Tuck add up to almost exactly 40 minutes - this meant that one of our import slots only got 16 minutes, went 3 for 4 from the field, 4 boards, a steal and no fouls or turnovers. Its absolutely unjustifiable that he sacrificed so many minutes to Marsden and Tuck - this has got to change if we're going to get anything out of this season. Retsek, was just thinking if Sharks could have blocked the lane on that last play, was it just a little bit 2 easy a shot to give up with 1 second left?

Why we came out in man and allowed them to just spread the floor and let Crandall go one on one is beyond me. As good a defender as he is, Hemsley had no chance to stop him on single coverage. This doesn't detract from the shot in any way - that was a killer blow from an excellent player who thoroughly overcame 5 turnovers in the first half.

Btw, whoever wrote up last nights action on the bbl website needs an 'incredible' thesaurus..... Control & F and you'll see what I mean

If we didn't know already, Crandall appears to be able to beat his man at will. I thought Hemsley had done a good job trying to stay in front of him throughout the game only to be hit with crazy fade aways. Help was half a step late on the last play. Credit Crandall.

We appear to be heavily reliant on Crandall which is a little concerning should he be injured. Washington is a really effective backup but doesn't have the same offence skill.
