We found it tough going against Surrey so it'll be interesting to see how they fare in this game.

Based on both teams’ recent performance against Riders, we should get stuffed. So were Riders playing to the same standard in each game ?

We found it tough going against Surrey so it'll be interesting to see how they fare in this game. Been having these thoughts all week myself, will be interesting to see the reaction after getting stuffed by Riders last week. It could tell us a lot about how the rest of the season will pan out for us.

I think if you have a roster that's fit you can beat anyone. Gordon and Fletcher alone give you a head start.

Even without Ryan Richards, Scorchers 48 - 39 Eagles at halftime.
Come on Eagles, you're better than this.

Far too much reliance on the back court - I had great hopes for Maxwell but they're evaporating fast

It's alarming how most of the teams in the BBL have improved as the season has gone on this year yet, Eagles have either stood still or gone backwards. What's worrying when you look at our depth problems is that most of our British core are nearing the end of their careers with seemingly no one to take over the mantle when Defoe and Lasker are no longer playing. I have a feeling this might be the last year we see Lasker with maybe another couple of seasons with Defoe being around.
Well done, Surrey for righting the ship this season though. Things were looking bleak a month ago but they have become much more competitive. Even after losing a big part of their team this week. Ironic, given how Eagles have struggled so badly when missing players this year. Creon deserves a lot of credit.

It’s a concerning pattern of eagles recent seasons tho, very good up To jan, even won a trophy then performance levels drop off a cliff

Thought it might be a good game and that Surrey might sneak it but to do that without RR is impressive. The bench points are a telling stat for Eagles. 6!

Well played scorcher always nice to get the W over Newcastle, I've been saying for a while Newcastle need a few rebuilding seasons take out Defo and Lakser, who is your leader, can you see Fletcher staying around forever and you can't rely on playing every minute.

Lasker isn't British! He's a naturalised American. Same at Scorchers with McLemore. It's a back door method of having extra overseas players. Didn't Newcastle have three when they had Lasker, Flournoy and Smith? It's detrimental to the British game! That said BBL clubs don't really produce players. How many are there in the BBL at the moment who were produced by BBL clubs (and are playing significant minutes)? None of the Scorchers British contingent have been produced by the club!

How many are there in the BBL at the moment who were produced by BBL clubs (and are playing significant minutes)? None of the Scorchers British contingent have been produced by the club! Yeah, I'm well aware of that! It's something Eagles previous success has been built on and now that those foundations are getting past their sell by date we look a lot weaker. I would point to Leicester as being the prime example of having a good British core to build around most seasons. Eagles haven't produced a BBL player anywhere near the level of Conner Washington since Defoe. Mix that in with players like Jamell Anderson who've been around the club for a long time as well, it gives them a solid foundation to build on. It's enabled them to punch well above their (financial) weight with London this year. I know it's something that the club is well aware of, but at the moment we don't have a set of young homegrown players who look anywhere near BBL starter standard. Unless we're able to tempt some younger British players of a higher standard (Louis Sayers is a good start, should he stay) it could be a long road back. It's tough to be critical as we're in uncertain times at the moment, but this problem has been a long time in the making. It's just frustrating as the club is doing a lot right at the moment......

A lot of clubs below Eagles in the league would be glad of their problems. Hardly in a poor position. Their history & arena (once we are out of lockdown) should enable them to secure a high income and attract young talent.

Doesn’t stop you looking at the bigger picture though and ultimately the team needs more attention than the great job the arena and sponsors are doing right now
