Same old nonsense
For the uninitiated, this crap has been going on since the 2004/5 season, former NBA great AC Green was at the BBL finals in 2005 where we re-aquanted two years after we'd met in a Vegas bar (I know, name dropper) and he was one of the many, many big names who've been linked with the big pro league that's (one day) going to arrive in Britain.
While you have to admire Ron Scott's sheer bloody mindedness in not letting go, we're now in the 13th year and it's always two years away. If Barry Hearn can put something on at the O2 with six month's planning, you'd think Mr Scott may have managed to stage a single game by now. Nice of him to include me in his email, though.

Well I am v happy with the BBL and think it is doing well so why do we need another league ? Opportunists who do not understand you cannot buy yourself into BBall in the U K, it just does not work that way

Started to put money aside for this, however I understand that the old brown 10/- notes are no longer accepted.

Interviewed there for an internship last year. Scott was travelling and met with one of his assistants. Nice lady who has been with them for 3 years. They are clearly funded to some degree as they have 5 people working on something and Shoreditch is a hot area. She said they completed their first funding in 2015 which got them operational and moved from New York
Needless to say, never got a call back or a response to my follow up email. If they can pull it off, good on them. Not holding my breath though!

This saga has been about to happen for longer than my diet.
They're basically a couple of folk who put out announcements about advisors every so often.

Very impolite not to return your enquiries about the intership unless of course they had dozens of applicants or it was never a position there in the first place?

I'm glad this important press release was issued by the PLB head office - we've had sod all else to chat about this week! How many members are on the advisory panel now? At this rate, they might start an intra-office basketball league before the professional one gets going... The latest press release also boasts that they're looking to 'launch a new format of professional basketball' - think they're eyeing up the All-Stars format? Seriously, I wonder what the team there have been doing for so long, but having taken a decade and more to arrive, surely it'll be an anticlimax?

These guys blocked me on twitter for criticising, knit picking; whatever you want to call it. And I'm pretty sure that was back when I was a teenager in college.

Also, does anyone remember the initial initial start date for the league. Just read that its been pushed back to 2019. The BBL may very well have two or three teams in European competition by then. That raises a problem similar to what Japan had, with two professional leagues, but also with regard to qualification.

Is the PLB being backed by any governing body?
If not then it'll be a case like the ICL/IPL in Cricket, ICL wasn't approved as an official league.

We're talking about potential problems here as if the PLB is real...

That raises a problem similar to what Japan had, with two professional leagues, but also with regard to qualification. They were going to run the bbl starting in 05/6. That fell apart during the summer of 05 and by the following autumn they were talking to D1&2 clubs. There's been various other plans since. They talk a good game. Meanwhile the rest of us actually play games

I'm not sure where British Basketball fits in but I can't see the pissing the bbl off or sanctioning a league that screws up their national team programme
