Starting 5 salary for most BBL teams won't be anywhere near 25k. A lot of BBL teams start with Rookie imports - they'll be lucky to be on half of that. Yeah. But a nett grand a month when you don't pay rent or bills is OK if you you're 24 with no kids. If you're willing to cook a bit of pasta rather than live on takeaway it helps as well Fair point. I considered what I'd need to live now, at 34, than what I needed when I was 24. |

I considered what I'd need to live now, at 34, than what I needed when I was 24. I would say it's a way to play sport and travel but you sure better have a plan B for when you have to stop playing because you will be starting with next to nothing and 12 years behind others who have built normal careers etc I guess that's why a lot of the players try to play alongside Uni education and business type degrees |

Do you guys remember when I offered to buy a crate of beer for every Riders player if we beat eagles once Well I actually delivered what I promised and I can tell you the way the players went out of their way individually to say thank you told me a lot about their life In many sports they wouldn't bat an eyelid and probably wouldn't register a gift like that In some sports guys wouldn't get out of bed for less than 10k In basketball in GB I would say the players appreciate anything they get or are given way more as basically the money isn't there compared to other sports |
