Why do you get that impression? Because when they have just a single match to put on 3 times a year they don't have an awful lot extra going on at all 3 as has already been debated I would say putting together the logistics for a weekend event with all the teams attending and all the timings and matches and accommodation for officials etc etc etc would be a full time job almost in itself for someone I'm in the events industry We often support charity dinners. Big ones at big Hotels. A charity will often allocate a team of 2 or 3 just to work on that event for 6 months in advance to get it right. And on the night there will be 50 plus volunteers all there to support the event and make it work. I rave about the NBA experience at MSG but dread to think what type of manpower has gone in to planning each week and on the night It's huge budget stuff and it's not easy to replicate with a couple of full time staff who have loads more to worry about than just the matchnight experience I'm not here to make excuses but just know how much time and effort has to go into planning events and the suggestions we have are great ideas but huge things to attempt logistically

Yes, the initial planning would be complicated and a high workload, but for subsequent events only minor changes are needed to the 'master plan'.
Planning and running any event is just an exercise in project management, and is best done by breaking the overall task down to small component parts. For a super weekend, each club could be given responsibility for planning & managing a part of the event. When looked at in a logical manner the tasks become manageable.

Id love Giants home games to be on a Friday. I love the £1 half time shoot out and think every team should do it - audience participation and all that! Id also like more consistent refereeing oh and id like a proper scoreboard showing player fouls etc Not too much to ask I dont think

I'd like to see a team playing out of National Basketball Centre in (Belle Vue) Manchester.

if i could change one thing... rocks wise- maybe get a big screen in the sports hall. a great feature but i doubt it would happen. bbl- is there a worse pro league for engaging with fans? i would love to know how many people work for the league office and what capacity they are employed in. "i would love to know how many people work for the league office" - probably about half of them

If any Trafford Giants fans (or any other Basketball fans in the Gtr Manchester area) are in need of a Basketball fix on Saturday night, they might want to visit Bury and see the NBL1 War of the Roses between Lancashire Spinners and Bradford Dragons! It's Mothers Day weekend too, so what better way to show your old woman that you love her <3 - COME ON DOWN! By the way tickets are just £1 if you buy them online via Eventbrite (Cut and Paste this link); www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/spinners-vs-bradford-dragons-tickets-21402715097

I can recollect many moons ago venturing to Bury to see the Bury Lobos (featuring Tony Holley) welcome Birmingham Bullets.
Probably about 25 years back, and I'm sure the tickets were more expensive then, even if it had been today's regular price of a £5.
Some other very entertaining teams in the first division then (the second-tier) such as Oldham Celtics (featuring Dip Donaldson) - I think they may have even played in Europe, even though they were not playing at the top level in the British League!

We have a good mixture of young talent and some very experienced players at Spinners - including Mike Bernard and Steven Gayle who played for the Manchester Giants back in the day! This is the Spinners' first season in NBL1 and they have certainly held their own. If you can make it on Saturday you will be definitely guaranteed entertainment for your £1! It's Bury's best Basketball bargain! Attachment Deleted

OK, have just registered.
Have just googled it, (something that I'm pretty sure we could not do so easily back when I first started out on the original Whats Bev forum - not the one before this, but the one before that - was it in the 90s?), and am seeing that Oldham played in the European Cup in 1990.
And that was a British "second" division club playing in Europe....

Solly, you're alive! I'd been told you'd been devoured by a passing herd of wildebeest. Yeah, second tier clubs competed in Europe on occasions. It was a crazy mixed-up world then. Some things never change. Which returns the discussion to my pants. How often do you change yours?

IRF, The BBL have always sourced out the management of at least part of their events. It would be illogical not to. Andy and Jamie run the league on a day-to-day basis

irf the things that would make a difference are minimal. the league sends all the teams many many many pull up banners with sponsors, league logos and club logos on them. why not keep some for finals to dress the concourses?
fact is the league is trying to make money and as a guest said made plenty profit from the lta for a date change. i would just like to see some reinvestment. the product on offer hasn't changed. it needs freshened up. its not going to require event managers. if rocks when they played mostly in the arena can coordinate and run a better match night than the league with three events in total i find that almost embarrassing that the showpiece events aren't anywhere near the quality of the teams. the fact they have the same number of full time staff as some teams stresses my point

I bet it's quite a few They are worth their weight in gold on match night IMO

If you could change one thing for next season what would it be? I'm not talking players/coach (See the Stick Or Twist thread for that), but anything else? Whether it's to do with game day presentations, venues, game day times, absolutely anything...however realistic or not! For me I would like to see the Rocks fanbase get involved a bit more. Our atmosphere can be pretty poor despite myself and @gonk 's best drumming efforts! Although I appreciate not everyone enjoys making noise / can feel shy. Following that, if the team are awful then I'd like to see Rocks fans rant about how bad we were and what went wrong rather than see typical comments congratulating the guys on "a great effort" and so on (this doesn't happen on the forum, usually elsewhere). Back to the topic as started .....
I agree with DG that the atmosphere at Rocks games could be better. I liked the idea of a noisy zone, but I think it's situated too far to the edge of the Sports Hall and having a few of the hard core fans away over there has weakened the support from the main body of the crowd.
I also go along with analyticalobserver's point about improving the schedule/fixture list, but I do appreciate that it's no easy task.

I guess we were in a no win situation with the Noisy Section. If we moved back into the main block people then I'm guessing people would get annoyed with the drums. Then again, we've had dirty looks from people who sit in the noisy section and don't like the drums! From a purely selfish POV, I really like the seats we now have. There's more room, I can stand in the back row and it's actually a pretty good view. We're always open to more people joining us Walt :beerchug !! I'm sure you'd make a good drummer! And yeh, gonk ruins other people's drumsticks. Not his own...

Another very easy, and no cost change, include a column in the league table for the teams winning percentage, to allow for an easy comparison between teams that have played an unequal number of games.

Conference system, but then again are there enough teams to have it equal?
Plus it would cut down on travel costs.
