It seems to me that there were a lot of pre-season games but not a lot of reports here or on various Clubs websites. Not sure if that's because Clubs don't have a particular strong press presence within their ranks and have to rely on local press to cover and as I've found in the past, they are largely reluctant to do so. Although I have to say our local press has been excellent for us. Would love either folk here or someone within the Clubs on their websites to update details and put some meat on the bones so to speak. For instance Phoenix were involved in a tournament in Ireland this weekend and I gather did reasonably well? But can't confirm as there's nothing concrete about it. Plus weren't Giants playing again at the weekend? What about Lions v Scorchers? Just feel that the sport if missing a trick in building up the anticipation for this weekend's forthcoming opening BBL Championship fixtures.

It looks that way. Many clubs seem to eant to hide their pre season results and dont even to match reports.
I really hope not but it seems the league has lost a bit of momentum it built last season. Do we just wait to xmas as we beliebe the bbc will come on board? Or why not be front pushing and get it right in house first.

Nix seem to be heavy fb publishers but not so much everywhere else. On a similar note, Worthing just put up highlights of their game v Lions

I went to both Giants friendlies this weekend.
On Friday vs 'Nix the first half was quite close but Nix pulled away in the 3rd. Nix like to play one on one and try to get to the basket, Giants were playing a slower, more traditional game using thr bigs as much as possible.
Last night against Magic, again the defense wasn't great for the Giants, but they looked quicker in offense.
From what I have seen so far, I will be surprised if the Giants are not propping up the league this season.

Worthing were comprehensively beaten by Lions. Lions effectively shut out the paint and Worthing had to settle for outside shots as the video shows. Lions used their size and athleticism advantage well.
Not sure it tells you much about how either team will fare in their respective leagues. Lions won't play many minutes against teams with their tallest player on the court standing 6'5, although having said that, their defence against a smaller team was very tight. They also shot the ball superbly, especially in the first half. Worthing are a relatively undersized team even in the NBL, but they won't face opposition with that kind of array of offensive talent, athleticism or size. Nick Lewis having a game to forget and fouling out after relatively few minutes on the court didn't help matters.
Worthing were missing a couple of important players, although I doubt it would have affected the result an awful lot. And Lions played without a couple of players too, so it's no excuse.
I remain confident of Worthing's success in NBL, and against Worthing at least, Lions looks like a force.

It was decided to keep the pre-season stuff fairly low-key for the Sharks although we put a few videos etc out. This week there are interviews with Rene, Dirk, Atiba and Mike going out on the website Monday and Tuesday, a match preview on Wednesday and full match reports with interviews from Friday onwards.

In 15 years we have never failed to report on a single game that has been open to the public. Our win at Oaklands. Obviously, closed doors scrimmages are a bit different.

Is that lee greenan in the second photo Hersey? Was hoping he'd stay at Hemel as he formed a great partnership with Tom Adorian in the last few months of last season so was wondering where he'd signed

Yes. He's gone from being Leigh Greenan to Lee Hodges. It's only a matter of time before I screw up

Yes. He's gone from being Leigh Greenan to Lee Hodges. It's only a matter of time before I screw up I’m sure there’s a reason for it that will probably make me the worlds worst human, but instead I’d like to think he made a very pretty 7 foot bride.
