Essex Rebels have added to their roster once again and are excited to announce the signing of dynamic american forward DeAngelique Waithe. Known simply as ‘Angel’ the highly athletic player arrives off the back of being named this year’s MVP for her college programme at Long Island, New York in the NCAA, meaning the Rebels will be looking to her as a leading light during their inaugural WBBL season. A strong rebounder and inside presence, she has arrived at the University of Essex to play professionally in Europe but is also studying for her Masters in Sports Science. Mark Lloyd, Head Coach stated: “We are absolutely over the moon to have Angel join our programme. She is a terrific athlete with a high basketball IQ and has an amazingly bright and bubbly personality – she has bought heaps of positive energy to the practice floor and really has hit the ground running. “We are building every day and are confident as we grow in experience with all that playing in the WBBL brings,” added the play-caller. www.wbbl.org.uk/worth-the-waithe-for-rebels/
