Leicester doing well to keep themselves in it. The other team look pretty strong and organised. Shame the place is so empty, is it because it's mid-week or a lack of appetite for Euro matches from the fans? Or maybe just because they were expecting to lose by so much? Midweek and the fans don't know any better Shame as these two games weve had already in Europe are such great quality Whatever happens now Bring on the Hungarians!!

78-90
Just as against Bakken the score flattered us. Tonight the score certainly didn't flatter us.
Tonight I honestly started to believe we might win the game
After the third quarter we had them rattled for sure
We defended against them with the intensity that bakken defended against us. I know we shocked them.
Shocked me as well tbh
Honestly I've got no worries about BBL league now. No worries. The standard we have to play to compete in this have raised us so much I'm sure.
And I think we will get runners up in this group

Wonder how Burnett will do? 23 points. Next top scorer Cooley for them with 18. Burnett must look at their team and the type of wages they earn and think (or know) it could be him Good job Leeds have folded as he could have scored 60 against them this season if Rob let him He's shown in 3 euro games that despite the quality of opposition defence he can keep finding a way to the basket. He's going to find the BBL defence so easy to penetrate in comparison.

Well done Riders.
Watched the 1st Qtr before leaving to do other stuff, and thought Riders are doing well.
Going by some of the predictions on here beforehand ... that score line is as good as a win.
When do you play next (Hungary ?)

Is it a case of Dinamo Sassari not taking Riders that serious and thus under estimating them
and hence not pushing hard ... or am I talking sh1te again. it's just that 1st Qtr they seem
to be missing alot of shots ... but defensively they looked good ... not having a dig just my
observation from the 1st Qtr. Will be interested to know McTowlies and Bigz's comment on the game
is as a whole. looking forward to game reports and analyses of both teams efforts

We missed plenty of shots as well tbh They were in a battle they just weren't expecting Refs did us no favours at crucial times as well. But I will let others complain about them!

[br These being the best team in the group by some way Our desire Our work ethic Our relentless defence And the fact we get better by the game Plus weve just competed properly against a quality Euro team without Hampton Didn’t watch the game but will have a scout back during lunch tomorrow and let you know what I think of it. On the face of it, a decent effort by Riders by a glimpse at the game centre But if you think you’re the only team to play “relentless” defence (theirs must have been more relentless let’s face it), have a decent work ethic, want to win a game and get better every week, then think again. Every week you tell me theres no individuals at Riders, yet Burnett and Holder take over 50% of the shots? Somethings wrong there isn’t it? Surely that’s taken you way away from the way you want to play, regardless of the opposition? Nobody for Sassari played over 27 minutes. I’d imagine that would have been different if they were genuinely rattled, and in so far as time outs are concerned, they’re absolutely not a sign of being scared. Just a chance to readjust/implement something different out of the playbook. I do love how Riders simply miss a lot of shots but when other teams miss against Riders it’s “relentless defence”. Amused me that. Without Hampton you’re a two trick pony at this level unfortunately. And they’ve had to take a lot of shots to get there. Maybe (hopefully) it picks up a bit for the role guys when you’ve got a bit of creativity in the frontcourt. Larsson even just from the stats clearly isnt up to anything. That said its certainly isnt doom and gloom and there’s cause for slight optimism but away from home is a completely different prospect. See how it goes but there should be a fighting chance of at least one decent result.

Sorry one thing I do want to mention, Rema Lascelles.
How good is he becoming? And to say that Eric Robertson was ahead of him in the rotation last season. Jesus H Christ.

Defensively Riders played exceptionally well tonight other than protecting their own boards, Sassari got way too many offensive rebounds, but maybe that's just class. They also gave us a master-class in blocking of shots, and tipping the ball away when it's above the ring, hopefully we can learn these skills.
Burnett and Holder were immense offensively, and Douse improves all the time.
Unfortunately TrayVonn Wright is not delivering the goods currently this season, maybe he is carrying a slight injury?
I think it may be a little harsh to judge Laarson on tonights performance, let's at least give him time to show what he can do against lesser teams.
We are still missing Pierre Hampton although it is probably not too long before he will be back, maybe next week against the first Hungarian team.

Unfortunately a huge chunk of the rebounding problem sits with Larsson for me. Riders aren’t a big team, they need the one genuine big they have to really put a graft in and from what I see this season, I’m not convinced he’s there. That said he’s trying to play his rookie season against experienced big fellas who have been on the cusp of the NBA, earn a ton more than Riders have in their budget and aren’t making their first trip to the rodeo so I’m probably being a bit harsh but the reality of the situation is it’s preventing riders from being that next step on the ladder competitively. I do think they’ve done a great job in competing as close as they did tonight but there are improvements to be made, so let’s not get carried away. I think Douse benefits from having Lascelles playing the point, gives him a bit more freedom.

When we lost to Bakken I didn't claim any credit. Tonight we deserve credit and based on what I saw I'm saying we will get through this group. We gave these guys problems all night. And they have players earning 10 times what our players earn. We can compete at this level.

I’ve played the game a little bit, I know how to research teams and how to take relevant information from stat sheets....
You’ve not seen any other team and know nothing about them. What you’ve said is far more bold than anything I have.

And lascelles ran the point most of the night looking composed and confident. When rob promised his dad two years ago he would develop him as a player I bet he never envisaged this.
And Harrison Gamble played at least ten minutes and scored a three pointer!
As I said after first quarter their blocking of shots and lay ups was incredible

Hell be a great player in time Rema, played against him a few times when he was at Derby Trailblazers. That’s why I was so pissed they played an under-par import over him. But sod it, he’s thriving now.

What you’ve said is far more bold than anything I have. Think we've already established the Italians are levels ahead of any other team in this group. From what I saw on the Internet the consensus is the Italian league is way ahead of the Hungarian League? That's not even up for debate is it? And youve got to allow me some excitement and hope that we can beat the Hungarians having just seen us compete so well with the Italians surely bigz? As as other riders fans who watched the game post I'm certain they will all have been equally impressed by what they saw and take lots of confidence from it. As will the players and rob I'm sure. I seriously think Rob will be disappointed we didn't win tonight. We kept getting within a couple of points and had momentum more than once.

Sorry, and one more thing on Rob - deserves massive credit for getting this group, minus arguably its most multi faceted player, to compete with a side on probably three times his budget.
Not sure there’s too many out there domestically who could galvanise a side like he does. And that includes Kapoulas.
