Ok - I know we don't usually talk about NCAA until March, but... did you see that Duke walloping of UK?
FFS they've got a brand new starting 5, (all likely to go as one-and-dones) first 'official' college game together, and they STILL put 118 on what was allegedly the 2nd best team in the country. Yes: 118. Having the top 1, 2,AND 3 in the recuriting class obviously helps - but the chemistry was beautiful to watch. That was a beat-down of the highest order, and they looked like they were having fun!!
Although commentators J Bilas and co were comparing Berrett to James Harden, to me they looked like the Warriors with the unselfish play, their passing, the accuracy and their 3-point shooting. This is going to be some season for Dukies. Just thought I'd mention it... go watch the stars of next year's NBA on BT this year.
[edit] Score correction: I missed that last basket by the scrubs... [/edit]

It's back, with quite a few changes. The ACC starts this week Some thoughts. It would be good to have a bit of discussion on here.

I like the idea of moving the 3 point line to the FIBA distance, I like the idea of restricting the clock re-set after an offensive rebound (again as per FIBA - albeit 20 rather than 14. I guess I ought to read your blog to see what else there was going on!
Thought the Duke defence was terrific last night, certainly better than their shooting, although they do seem to have a better mix of rookies and old hands this year. But UK wll get better as time goes on - there was a lot of potential there when they work it out. A lot of returning Spartans to get them to the pre-season #1, but I won't see their game until catch-up today, so can't comment.

By the way, has there ever been a Brit on a #1 nationally ranked NCAA team, even way down the end of the bench? I just wondered because Holly Winterburn is a freshman at Oregon, who are the preseason women's #1, and I thought she might be the first.

Deng maybe? Wiki wasn't my friend. It sounds like she's got a great gig, though. Can you tell us about her, Richyy?
As an aside, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim agrees with me about the new-look schedule.

Luol was my first thought as well. From what I could tell Duke didn't start or finish his season at #1, but they weren't far off so could've been there at some point in the middle. I wouldn't claim to have seen Winterburn play that many times. Scoring wing with some length based on the occasional glimpses I saw of her in the WBBL, but inevitably may have a different role at Oregon. I just hope she doesn't disappear on their bench and barely play for four years. Might be a good education but much better to be at a lower-ranked school if it means actually getting to play.
ETA: Oregon are opening their season with a game against the USA National Team on Saturday night. Tip-off is midnight UK time if I've translated it right, and game is live and free on the Pac-12 facebook page at www.facebook.com/Pac12Plus/ if anyone wants to watch. Oregon also have the best player in women's college basketball at the moment in Sabrina Ionescu (and TeamUSA obviously have several of the best players in the game).

My mountaineers got a win in their season opener which, after last season, is a step forward! We can definitely score this season but the defence is pretty porous to say the least. Huggins has got a lot of pieces to juggle and if he's not going press for 40 minutes, not sure he knows what to do with them all. Preseason polls were pretty bullish on WVU but I'll take sneaking into the tournament on the bubble

Mobile app is region specific and website won't work either

Kentucky going down to Evansville last night was a bit unexpected.

A season of upsets so far. Good to spy Bob Donewald jnr on the coaching staff for Texas Tech - all be it in a loss to lowly Depaul. Let's go Mountaineers - still undefeated! Oh and it looks like Kentucky Michigan will be squaring up at the O2 next Christmas
