Rebound, rebound, rebound.
A terrible performance from the Eagles. Well done Lions.

Commiserations to Lions. Eagles to go on and win this competition now. Oh, wait...

Great result for the Lions, looking forward to the Final now... a bit annoying we have to wait until a week or so beforehand to find out whether we’ll be playing Rocks or Giants. But I suppose that’s a bigger disadvantage to them than it is to us.

ITs yours to lose. I’d like to think giants could give you a game but it will need everyone to be at the top of their game. If Clayton can stay on court I still think we can beat rocks in the return leg

Far better performance from both teams than Fridays debacle. Lions greater depth finally told but it was a really tough game. Nullifying Fletcher for the whole game was the key for Lions, he simply wasn't a presence throughout. Good sized crowd & good atmosphere, the £5 ticket offer had a great effect, let's hope they'll be some who become regular fans.

Any rumours on whether the Cup Final game will be broadcast on the BBC Red Button? You’d think the BBL might want to cover the production costs for this one (the reason there’s no other games on the BBC this season) for a bit of promotion for the league.

Really good crowd in the Copper Box by the way, looks like the £5 ticket deal has brought in some newcomers or at least some infrequent fans. Lions tweeted an attendance of 2614. As per the venue spec I shared with you in another thread, the lower tier must have been very, very close to capacity on all four sides. Huge progress if we can get to the point we need the upper tier opening. See you in Birmingham!

Congratulations to Lions, did not see the game as traveling at the time. A couple of observations though based solely on the stats. Eagles soundly outrebounded, not a surprise looking at Lions depth and height. Fletch contained and Lasker fouled out quickly certainly a problem but I am concerned about the number of turnovers we are giving up. Jamal seemed to have a better game but still seriously under performing but no minutes out of 80 for a seemingly fit Kai. A puzzle certainly. Kyle Williams on the other hand seems to be finding his groove. Alas and alack our best chance of silverware killed in the draw. We know we can beat them in a one off game but Lions are just too deep over two legs. That's the way it goes and I only hope Rocks or Giants make a game of it in the final. As for Eagles there is work to be done.

And further evidence that the attendance reported in the Live Stats is far from accurate (it said 800 for this game).

Only caught the end, Newcastle had some good looks down the stretch. Box score seems to tell the story as somehave mentioned, out-rebounded.
Interesting to hear what the Eagles fans think of all the chopping and changing. I haven’t seen a lot of them lately

Is that the Lions' biggest ever crowd?

Is that the Lions' biggest ever crowd? For a BBL game it must at least be a contender. I think the ‘Ball’ exhibition games may have had a slightly bigger crowd though. The £5 ticket offer was clearly popular, unsurprisingly given that full ticket price is £22 and Groupon ticket price is £12.

From Groupon lions probably only keep £6 ish anyway so they are effectively cutting Groupon out above The hard bit is getting the £5 message out to enough people without the help of Groupon. But clearly lions succeeded That's encouraging for the future for them. The fans are there for sure!

You'd hope so. Christ if they cant tap into the biggest basketball market in the UK then theres no hope for anyone else.

Given the lateness of the game being announced & the closeness to Christmas it was a great crowd! I'd say the majority probably hadn't been before but it was a decent win, decent atmosphere & we won so hopefully we'll get a fair amount to return. It'd be great if they turned up this Friday!!

Is that the Lions' biggest ever crowd? Certainly the first 'Baller' game had many more & our first ever game was basically sold out against an American college. This was probably close to our best ever attendance for a BBL game if not the best, it was certainly full where I was, although the man sitting in front of me did move away at the end of the 1st half!!🤣🤣

Do you think the cup final will have any impact on crowd sizes in the future?
Whats bigger the cup final or the game against Royals?

Do you think the cup final will have any impact on crowd sizes in the future? Whats bigger the cup final or the game against Royals? Lions need to win competitions, then I think we'll start to increase the number of long term fans. Both London teams need to be succesful before the derby game will really grab attention but for me, Friday's game is HUGE!!

Not wanting to be too negative, but Lion’s play-off final hasn’t noticeably increased crowd size, and that took place in London. As saintpat said, I think we need to start winning titles to significantly increase our fan base. As we’ve said before, London has a huge population, but also has more things vying for that populations attention than anywhere else in the U.K. As for Friday, the first all London game in over a decade, I’ll be there! Really looking forward to it and hoping for another big crowd (although to be honest I’m not sure how many fans Royals have yet to come along to the Copper Box).

Eagles season getting worse by the month

Eagles season getting worse by the month You don't appear to have a problem scoring whereas Riders do at the moment. I think once the Wright situation is resolved one way or another and Hampton is properly fit and back in his groove we'll improve in that respect. Can't see Jamal improving much for Eagles however because he's playing minutes and there's no hint that he's carrying injuries. Think both teams have to address personnel issues.
