I can see Rob having the boys in on Christmas Day to do a touch of much needed training at this rate.....

Brilliant again from Giants!
Not sure what happened at the end to cause McCall (or was it Butler) to send Paternostro flying other than maybe Paternostro wasn't happy🍇... about being kept waiting for his handshake ☺
There again he hasn't had that much experience of losing so it must hit him particularly hard...

Retsek ... I take it ya got livebasketball working then. Whats the quality like ? Picture and audio fine on the Lions, Riders and Cheshire games, and the commentary is least offensive in the Cheshire one. London by far the worst, absolute garbage.

What a result with Clayton only 10 minutes I honestly feel without a proper above average point guard or a decent 5 who can bang inside leicester will struggle!!

I know what the problem is. Or at least one of them. Winning is a mentality, as is losing. Last year (and the 2 or 3 before that) you consistently found ways to win games, close ones, games you were behind, and games you shouldn't really have won. Do not underestimate the damage your 0 and 6 European campaign has had on the winning mentality of this team.

Is one of the problems at Riders not that, from a position of strength, they then decided to bring Anderson and Washington back? They know the system but I'm not thinking they're the guys to push the team to the next level?

Interesting game. Giants had no size at all and we decide the best thing to do is keep Martin on the bench whilst we launch an endless number of threes despite hovering around the 10% mark. And some of these turnovers have to be seen to be believed. Burnett seems a real enigma. 3rd leading scorer in the Europe Cup but if you judged him on some of his BBL performances he'd be for the chop. He's so talented but we've got to figure out how to get him and JR going. Or just one of them would be nice. You'd be hard pushed not to be concerned about Riders at the minute. I'm personally not too fussed about going out of the trophy but you never want to lose any game never mind an opportunity for some silverware and the way we are playing suggests we've got no chance of retaining the title either. It's just been a strange season. Played some excellent basketball at times in Europe and some dreadful basketball at times in the BBL. Lost some games that on paper we shouldn't and struggled past Scorchers and needed a massive late come back to beat Royals. Although on the flip side we were two late shots away from being 8-0 in the league so it can't be all bad.
Definitely not good at the minute but not ready to panic just yet. I remember a couple of years ago being down in Plymouth just before Christmas after a dodgy run of form listening to some of our fans writing the game off before tip off. Claiming Sullivan was past it, Brandon Clark was no Neil Watson, Shane Walker was too soft, Eric Robertson was a waste of an import slot, Taylor King was too fat to play professional sport and wholesale changes were needed. I remember arguing with a fellow fan before the game about the squad but I was in the minority and the feeling was wholesale changes were needed. Fast forward 6 months and they were spoken of as one of the best sides put together in the last decade. Now this team is definitely missing a Bernadini/Sullivan figure and I'm in no way saying we are heading towards winning the league and playoffs at a canter like that team did. But not ready to panic too much just yet. Even if we do look ****e at the minute.

On a separate note. Really pleased for Giants as a club and the league as a whole with how much they've improved this season.

I think our main problems lie with our guards. Almost have too many options this season. We would be fine with a proper import PG who could distribute the ball really well. Having Washington, Lascelles and Douse appears not to be working in our favour. We were better last season with fewer choices. Burnett is not the guy to play that PG role either. And we appear to have lost our ability to stop teams scoring. That's inexplicable to me. Frankly baffling.

I said it after Riders narrowly beat Scorchers and I’ll say it again.. Riders are not a happy camp, and It is clear to see.
To many big egos..I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of changes are made. They seem very unbalanced with Rob not knowing who his best 5 is. Sometimes having too much talent can be a hindrance.
Losing Bernardi was huge, a level head and great leader, something they seem to be lacking this season.
Props to Giants though, great win. Good to see them contending again.

Your post got me reflecting on our bench jumping to their feet when players scored, dunked or blocked shots last season. Rarely see that now, which may lend some weight to your claim that all is not sweetness and light in the Riders camp.

Bit unfair to say all that about Rob, I feel. He's got his hands full preparing for his son's birthday on Tuesday.

Unfortunately I have to agree that his attitude during the game this evening was unacceptable. The league really could do without coaches telling opposing fans to meet them outside for a fight after the game.

The league really could do without coaches telling opposing fans to meet them outside for a fight after the game. It was me he was shouting at in the 1st quarter, I didn't pick up on him offering me out, maybe that was someone else. Shame though, I would have enjoyed it too

Riders fans complaining about scoring when you've scored 94!!! Giving up 101 is very un-rob like, I'd be more concerned about that. The team that beat Lions by 1 would not have given up 101 points! Did the players think this was going to be a straight-forward win & didn't have the mental ability to dig deep when it got difficult? I certainly wouldn't want to be in the dressing room with Rob after giving up 101 points!

On a slightly different note this result confirms that a Riders adult season ticket will have cost fans an additional £9 compared to buying individual game tickets a few days in advance and an extra £70 for a family of 4. (individual game tickets can be purchased for £16 upto a few days in advance so with 16 home games this comes to £256 while adult season tickets were £265 and family tickets can be purchased for £35 totaling £560 compared to the season ticket price of £630).
