Anyone have any idea when Moses is likely to return, we need him back on court quickly...

To be fair ... Giants played well, they had a game plan, implemented it, and it worked ... Well done Giants Err!! ... Can anybody tell me where, we can find a big Willie ? ... Eagles need one desperately (No smutty innuendo puns please ) Evidently, you don't need a "big Willie". Providing you have a Kieron Achara.

Crowd size was good, not a sell out but if we have that many every home game will be happy. Atmosphere was okay at times but I think more of that was built up through frustration at the performance than anything else. Clayton is a monster which I knew already but seeing him in person for the first time was even better. We need that type of player on the team and seems like a fun guy too and was so pumped up throughout the game, clapping and shouting but also having the game to back it up. We are so frustrating to watch, seems like we just do the same things time and time again and have no ideas. Seems like the team is not up to it as a whole, yes certain players are but far too many don’t seem to be. In the Facebook live interviews after the game it seems to be too relaxed and just talking about how great the support was and things still look positive. Now I hope that meant with the arena, which is true and not with the team cos that looked anything but. Jamal is a nightmare, offers nothing to the team really and we would be better off not playing him tbh and giving more minutes to Eddie and Themba. 2/11 from behind the arc is horrendous and don’t know why he kept on shooting, but that’s all he does is camp out there on the three point line toasting some f****** marshmallows waiting for a pass to come and then when it does jacking up a three and most of the time it doesn’t go in. He is shocking but we keep on persisting with him 🤷🏼♂️. His brother is a bit better but not by much. Looking at former players that we have had, if we had say a Scott Martin and Andy Thomson instead of them two we would be a lot better and have more of an inside presence aswell as an outside threat. Changes need to made before this season spirals out of control, just doing what we are doing is not working. Would rather cut Jamal and not replace him if there was nobody available instead of keeping him and just playing with what we have. We also have enough strength in the backcourt with Fletch, Lasker, Kyle and Eddie that you could afford to get rid of smith and bring another import big. There are players out there as other teams have made changes. Now we have to simmer on this home game and poor showing for three weeks and then we play the same team again. No quick game on a Sunday or next week to back. Don’t know where this team is going, need a better team on the floor to replicate what we are doing off it with the arena.

Fully agree - we had no answer to Granic in particular and even getting to the playoffs will be a major achievement with the current (injured) lineup.
Eagles also need to look at the arena layout - the foyer is blocked by an enormous ill-defined queue for the only food stall (if you ignore the ripoff hotdog and popcorn basketball kiteys, whose queues block the only way past the first queue !). Sport Central had 3 separate food/drink counters, 2 of which were tucked in corners of the main hall. that spread the queues around and avoided congestion. Why not do the same at ECA and ease the rugby scrum greeting visitors on first arrival ?

Baldereagle ...Yep, initially I thought the same with the food/drink issue ... noticed last night the Fire Exits (must have access at all times?)
Blocking them is a big no, no (these days) ... Maybe its time for them to stop Kowtowing to the prawn sandwich brigade and
allow all of us access to all of the ECA ... other than Lobby and corridors leading into the main arena, I've still not seen upstairs.
Just a thought

Perhaps we've stumbled on the Eagles masterplan - lower the standards on the court until attendances reduce, and then there's room in the foyer to get in past the yet to be built IRF brick wall !

The game is the most important thing to me as well and what I go for, the experience I get in the main arena and the atmosphere, which so far has been great.
Can’t really say I have noticed the issues with the food as mentioned in the foyer but again guess have not been thinking about, usually eat somewhere in town before hand and then head to the arena for the game.
But there are people who will want to eat during the game and it’s an extra income for the club as well so that’s a good thing. But if there are other parts of the arena where they could sell the food as well as in the foyer then I think that would be a good idea if it’s making it too busy in the foyer. I noticed when going through the doors to the main arena there was space by the north stand similar to Sports Central where they sold food. But I also get why they might want to keep the food away from the main hall and have it separate in the foyer. But is the foyer big enough is the question.
I think the club are still learning and we are they only two home games in.

Well it’s all quiet on the western front, presuming changes or cuts/additions are unlikely? 🤔 any thoughts 2NFR?

Steve Maybe theirs no more money left in the kitty to bring anyone else in this season. Paul B (shrewd business man that he is) doesn't come across as someone to get a Wonga loan just win a cup. I imagine if we lose to Wolves ... then questions maybe asked, but at the moment I see no changes coming in the foreseeable future. Grin and bear it time for us and just hope we have a good playoff run ... but then again, what the f... do I know !! Honestly, at this moment in time ... I'd be just happy just to win some home games we shall see

Gonk, I agree ... but sometimes loyalty can also be a hindrance. There's no shame in replacing players mid season, tactically it makes sense and works I think pro-ballers accept its part of the job as well. Just a thought edit Seems to work for Royals !! How many players they got now ... 25 ?

They do accept it as part of the job but it's a ****ty way to treat people. I'm probably being too idealistic in my viewpoint here.

Yep, really breaks my heart when some rookie kid spends (or even borrows) the last of his money to get here. ...only to be told, ya not good enough, ya don't fit the system ... and then the kid has to scrape together some funds go home. Sh1tty indeed. edit I know that I am contradicting myself a lot at the moment ... that's because ... TBH ... I have no answers (I'm just guessing)

I've been intrigued by the calls for more minutes for Eddie. Has he improved significantly since he went away?

It's very noticeable to me and it's why I write them off at start of season even when they win looking great Not entirely true IRF. You (and plenty of others) got pretty excited about this Eagles team early doors. Remember the 'relentlessness'? Jamal is a nightmare, offers nothing to the team really and we would be better off not playing him tbh and giving more minutes to Eddie and Themba. 2/11 from behind the arc is horrendous and don’t know why he kept on shooting, but that’s all he does is camp out there on the three point line toasting some f****** marshmallows waiting for a pass to come and then when it does jacking up a three and most of the time it doesn’t go in. Looking at former players that we have had, if we had say a Scott Martin and Andy Thomson instead of them two we would be a lot better and have more of an inside presence aswell as an outside threat. You'd also have four Americans and, I imagine, a pretty bloated payroll. Probably not fair to make that kind of analogy. If Riders had Brandon Peel and Matthew Bryan-Amaning instead of Harrison Gamble and Jamell Anderson we'd be a much better team but we'd be breaking the rules and we'd be skint. As dreadful as he appears to have been, I don't think that throwing (or possibly fork lifting) Jamal Williams into the nearest skip and giving Matthew and Yabantu those minutes would do much to improve Eagles. A pair of 6 foot guards who are barely good enough for the league are definitely not the solution to Newcastle's problems. Regardless of how long Moses is out, they do desperately need frontcourt help. It wasn't difficult to foresee this as a potential problem area given the roster they put together and it's certainly proven to be so. In a strange way, I almost feel like Moses being sidelined for a reasonable period of time (say 3-4 weeks minimum) could be the best thing for Eagles fans. Whilst the club were pretty quick to yank Thomas, they do on the whole tend to be pretty stubborn about making roster changes in-season. As has been alluded to. I think a timeline like that on the Moses injury would probably force their hand in terms of making a new signing. Too late as far as the league is concerned now but I do think that one decent signing of the right type could have a fairy transformative effect on this team and at least make them a serious factor in the playoffs. I don't think it's appropriate for Eagles to be viewing the playoffs as 'just a cup'. The playoffs are, in my opinion, far and away the most significant of the cup competitions. And is the future of a 'club legend' not at stake here? Whilst I've never massively rated him as a player, Fab has surely been a significant factor in the success Eagles have achieved over the years. If this season goes as badly as it looks like it might, should this not be his swansong?
